One Month In Office: New Governors, New Hopes. Nigeria’s newly elected governors have spent one month in their respective offices already. While some have hit the ground running, others are still crying wolf over their predecessors’ actions and others running to the Federal Capital Territory every now and then to queue for “Abuja Money. this are compilation of a list comprising 5 new governors who have shown their intention to perform from day one. Read below: 1. Nyesome Wike (Rivers): If there is any governor who resumed office with the zeal to perform, then Nyesome Wike is the right choice. From the first day he resumed, Wike set out to restore the lost glory of Rivers state which his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, practically left to rot because of politics. Wike immediately opened the courts that was under lock and key by Amaechi for months, started renovation of the abandoned Port Harcourt roads, visited markets, made key appointments, directed the payment of April and May salaries of civil servants in the state, started an inspection tour of projects and generally get down to business all within a month. 2. Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia): Apparently aware that he took over from one of the worst governors in the last dispensation; Theodore Orji, who happens to be his benefactor, Governor Ikpeazu has decided to let sleeping dogs lie and has started efforts at cleaning up the mess left by Orji. He has started tackling the huge salary arrears, pensions and gratuities he inherited from his predecessor. 3. Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna): Despite the disastrous state in which his predecessor left the state, El-Rufai has trudged on without much complaint and has instead made major moves aimed at reducing the cost of governance. Like the professional that he is, El-Rufai has since settled down to the nitty- gritty of governance and has started making his impact felt in Kaduna state. 4. Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos): As if trying to distance himself from his predecessor’s style of governance which has been dubbed “elitist” by some analysts, Ambode has quickly identified with the down trodden in Lagos. Several visits to the suburbs for inspection of on-going projects, abandoning the luxurious Marina House for the hustle and bustle of Alausa and making concrete efforts aimed at ending the Apapa traffic gridlock al point to this fact. With sleeves rolled up and a jeans to match always, the Epe-born governor has given early signals that Lagosians won’t regret voting him into power. 5.Senator Ben Ayade (Cross-River): This is one governor who was well prepared for the task ahead. He has always been in the news for the right reasons and has also reached out to the opposition to move the state forward. From locking civil servants out of work for lateness, to commencing the process of building a garment industry, cocoa processing plant, rice mill and modular refinery in the state. Ayade has shown that he is not in the government house for child’s play. Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party have criticised President Muhammadu Buhari on his performance in the last 30 days, saying his performance was “30 days of all motion and no movement.” Sources: Naij.com news 2 Likes |

And Okorocha is busy planning how best to punish Imo people for being so gullible that they allowed him to be a second term governor. In Imo state today, it is weeping galore and nothing positive is happening. |

asha80:Okay..to be honest with you as someone who made use of that bridge on few occasions, the bridge itself is below standard as it is not smooth enough compared to the bridges built in his constituency Abeokuta. Inasmuch as I like the governor though..he's kinda disappointing though. |
