Ondo State Introduces Compulsory Access Card For Residents by vizboy(m): 9:03pm On Jul 03, 2015
The Ondo State government has said that the Residency Card, otherwise known as “Kaadi Igbe-Ayo”, would henceforth be a prerequisite for all residents of the state to access all government social service in the state.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko‎, stated this on Thursday, while performing the launching of the utilisation of the Residency Card, in Akure, the state capital.

Mimiko said government policy of “No Card, No Access” to all state government social service takes immediate effect, hence residents of the state above the age of 15- year- old should apply for its collection.

‎”Kaadi Igbe-Ayo becomes the entry visa into all state government social services from our Abiye Safe Motherhood programme, to the micro-credit and economic empowerment, highly-subsidised agric input and supplies and the free education.

“Kaadi Igbe-Ayo‎ is a state-wide, dynamic, chip-based multipurpose transaction card that contains the Basic Bio Data, as well as socio-economic data of holders and the state welfare package solutions and applications”, he said.

He explained that the initiative of the residency card, was in fulfillment of his administration promises at inception to know the residents and where they live in the state.

The governor also noted that the card was set out to achieve services rendered to beneficiaries at any service point with accurate and precise records of transaction available.

‎According to Mimiko, the residency card had been painstakingly designed, and sufficiently field-tested to overcome problems associated with smart-cards world over.

“It is a smart card that serves as an interface between the state government and all residents. It is the instrument of access to all democratic dividends of the present administration.

“Other benefits are reduction unwarranted greed and hoarding; racketeering; pilfering and diversion which had been the bane of social welfare programmes in governments, as well as reduction in crime and criminal activities”, he said

He disclosed that more than 400, 000 residency cards had been distributed in the state free of charge since its commencement.

He maintained that whoever wants to collect the cards would have to pay N2,000, and stressed that data would be available on the cards to enable mission-critical decisions be made by the service agents.

The governor, however, added that as from September this year, income tax would be required on the card to access social services.

can u imagine a tricky way of raising funds to enlarge his purse when workers have not gotten salaries for months. Infact if i have the power, i would charge him for criminal offence. He started collecting data within the first five months of his first term, the second term ends next year and he wants to start implementing the use of the useless card. Was he sure he would retain the seat for d second term? This is corruption of the highest order.
