Job seekers take note. Today, more than half of employers now use social media to screen your applications. Those indiscretions on your profile might just be the devil you’ve spent countless sleepless nights “binding and casting”. Drunken party photos, insensitive jokes, tribal comments, extreme political expressions, religious fanaticism, offensive language, bad reports/comments of you by others on your profile etc. might be sabotaging your job search efforts. Grammar and spelling mistakes can also play a damaging role in employers’ doubt on your suitability for roles.

Below is a recent study I found online on how a potential employer uses social media in the hiring process.

Any excuse not to give people jobs, or any excuse to practice buddyism.

This is like google nitpicking people's job applications instead of giving info on how many positions are actually available for the tens of thousands who apply. ( maybe a few hundred or less? ).

I have used Facebook to screen applicants on few occasions. Funny enough I did that again today. Its just to Google the number on the CV or the email.
