Need help please

My laptop keeps shutting down .
I haven't installed any new software it gives me  a blue screen an a long complicated error message0x800, .
I'm runnning windows XP
Any ideas what could be causing this?

well, knowing what the message says would help

Try restarting and looking carefully to get a complete error message or just this part

restart and find the remaining 4 or 5 characters that would help

The problem could be one of many errors. Quite difficult if no additional information would be provided.

Some may say, reformat the computer but that is not a solution for now.

If you have a windows xp disc, try doing a system recovery to fix the issue

Try running the system on Safe mode by pressing on F8 at startup. I've seen such errors but the system comes up after that.

the main causes for bsod(blue screen of death) are:
1.a new hardware hasnt been properly installed
2, current surges through ur hardware in to the computer ram
3, ur registry contains illegal traces
4, ur ram is in sufficient


solutions:
1, get the softwares(uniblue registry cleaner 3.0) or advance care pro(call me to give u the cracks or license keys)
use this to clean ur registry or illegal traces,
2. check that ur hardwares have been properly installed,
3, increase ur ram (512mb to 1gig)or use the advanced care pro to do a smart deep ram free up(be careful about this as ur ram should be high be4 u free it, if u free a ram that is not running high u will get a bsod, get google desktop and install memory analyser, it will tell u the accurate ram info.

I've seen most of the problems with xp bsod's.
sameolg616 is ur man - he got it.

u cld try out these few steps first (because u dint give details of the bsod. *every bsod has its description, in capital letters* not just those numbers).
1. take out all externals- flash disk, usb hard disks, ext bluetooth or cdroms etc -if u have any
2. boot in safe mode (press F8 while booting), a list will appear, select safe mode. if it doesnt shutdown by itself, it means ur lucky. accept options for system restore n ur good.
3. if it shutsdown itself b4 step 2 ended, there's an 86% chance we have a ram problem ( my own irrational estimation). if u have a ram less than a 768MB u need an upgrade else change your ram or 1 of your ram (they might have been surged out. PS- dont touch the ram if you have a cotton cloth on. ESD can kill your system.
4. see a tech.

knowing if it displays any error message would help though but i believe its a virus thats tormenting you.search for "Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" on google and download it. update it. then scan ur system. write me at michaelokonji at yahoo dot com if t helps u. its a strong weapon believe me
