Man beats pregnant wife to death

A pregnant woman, Mrs. Abimbola Omotosho, on Tuesday lost her life after she was allegedly beaten by her husband, Mr. Sunday Omotosho.




Nigerian Tribune learnt that the deceased, a resident of No. 4, Akinremi Street, Mulero, Agege, Lagos, had a disagreement with her husband on Sunday over a yet-to-be ascertained issue.



The husband was alleged to have beaten her over the disagreement, but before neighbours could rescue Mrs. Omotosho, she had been inflicted with injuries.



The announcement of her death threw the community into mourning. Meanwhile, the police in the state have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman.



A police source, who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune under the condition of anonymity, said the incident occured on Sunday, adding that the death of the deceased might not be unconnected with injuries she sustained during the incident.



The police spokesman in the state, Mr. Frank Mba, while confirming the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, said the Criminal Investigation Department had taken over the investigation.
