Imo State Is Indebted To Over 500B Naira- Guardian News by Ihedioha2015: 9:44am On Jul 12, 2015
State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, are back to the trenches in their war of words following Ihedioha’s call on the former to account for the N500 billion loan he allegedly obtained from banks since he could not pay workers.

However, in a statement at the weekend by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha urged Ihedioha to allow him run the state with the decorum and respect it deserves.

“We have heard about those inciting certain groups in the state to cause trouble, but we have chosen to remain calm,” the statement read.

“It is unfortunate that a man who had been in the House of Representatives for 12 years, and Deputy Speaker for four years, and who should know the efficacy of respecting political office, would take delight in abusing his governor without provocation”

He insisted that his free education programme and infrastructure development are testimonies to the facts under reference. He also maintained that he acquired Spibat Estate before becoming governor.

According to Ihedioha, however, “Imolites are in rude shock that while civil servants who, despite illegal deductions from their meagre salaries and allowances are being owed up to seven months’ salary and several months of allowances groan in alarming hardship, Okorocha is busy junketing around the world in expensive private jets, having sold almost all of the state’s assets and obtained loans in excess of N500 billion.”

He insisted that Okorocha should publish what accrued to the 27 local councils, how much he has so far borrowed from banks, receipts from the Federal Government through monthly allocation, excess crude, ecological fund and 13 per cent derivation.

Also, he should state how much he has generated from internal revenue, the sale of state assets, and the illegally deductions so far from the salaries and allowances of Imo civil servants since 2011.

He added: “It is regrettable that Okorocha has arrogantly refused to tell Imolites how much he has received. How can a man build the multi-billion naira largest private estate in Nigeria, sited at Spibat at Amakohia, with state funds?”

this is bland accusation na! it's just over N52b from what I saw from the DMO. and that amount is less than the average external debt stock of states http://www.dmo.gov.ng/oci/subn/docs/Federal%20and%20State%20Governments%20External%20Debt%20Stock%20as%20at%2031st%20December%202014.pdf
Note that that external debt stock is always higher than domestic debt stock. here is the link for demostic debt stock when it was last updated in 2013 http://www.dmo.gov.ng/oci/subn/docs/Domestic%20Debt%20Stock%20of%20the%20States%20and%20the%20FCT%20as%20at%20December%2031st,%202013.pdf

So Ihedioha should stop this cheap propaganda

Forget the official cover. Imo state has borrowed to the extent that the state has been banned by CBN from further borrowing. Even the bastard abagworo knows what am saying is the fact. cheesy

[s][/s]

let me educate you. for a state governor to borrow money it must be captured in the state government appropriation bill (or its addendum there in) and same must be approved by the state house of assembly after debating on it. this process is within the public knowledge.

the question is where did Ihedioha conjured the N500b from? any paper evidence? note that the said amount is almost the state's four years budget. so go figure out the lie and illogicality cheesy

As much as i hate Rochas deceptic nature and there shouldnt be any reasons for him to owe IMO state workers and being that IMO state is among the oil producing state with additional allocation accruing to them. But am still glad that they said estate was built in his home state and not somewhere in Dubai, panama or London. Atleast it has contributed in reducing the housing problem in such area and ofcourse, direct or indirect employement to the local populace. moreover,he also said that the estate was acquired prior to his becoming a governor.

Let me educate you, you are not well disposed to get unofficial government information than the former number 4 man.

hehehhehe, you are very shallow in your reasoning young man. was he no 4 in Imo or Nigeria? for crying out loud we have 36 states in Nigeria. he will be more disposed to tell us how much GEJ borrowed ( both official and unofficial ones including the over N400b borrowed to pay salaries shocked)

He could borrow that much, misapproprait that much, owe that much and divert that much when it wasn't even his party that was in government at the centre, what do you think will happen now that the mouth touted 'change' has come at the centre?

I just pity Nigerians.

God must surely intervene.

Is Ihedioha acting out his own script?

http://newswirengr.com/2015/06/01/pdp-must-use-propaganda-blackmail-as-opposition-house-of-reps-speaker-ihedioha/

Well, Imo state needs a better Governor, Rochas isn't that governor, Likewise Ihedioha is definitely NOT the man that Imo state needs!
