You are totally right. And there is a good reason for that:

Romance because your Partner can be your hero!
Family, because a family member can be your hero!
Culture, becausebasically anyone can be your hero!

Come on people help me out here. Dont tell me you don't know any hero. Because if you think about it everybody is a hero in his own way. The boy that sells pure water to help his mother pay the house rent or the roadside mechanic who is able to fix almost every car with his bare hands or the old man who fought biafra war...
