The Ebonyi State Police Command, yesterday foiled plans by the Vikings cult sect of initiating 46 graduating students of a popular mission secondary school in Izzi local government area of Ebonyi State

These students had just concluded their Senior School Certificate Examination, conducted by the National Examination Council, were said to be members of a cult group identified as Junior Vikings.

They had gathered at a hotel in the metropolis located along old Enugu Road to be initiated into the Senior Vikings until police swooped in after being tipped off.

The Police arrested over 15 on the spot while the initiators fled.

Police spokesman in the state, Chris Anyanwu said that these initiators were dangerous as they hunt the young men of the state to lead to crime.

He said that the police have mounted a man-hunt to arrest the fleeing suspects.

He explained that the initiators, the members of the Senior Vikings had demanded the students all dress in white hats, red shirts and black trousers and attend, if they failed to they would face difficulties in their lives.

Anyanwu revealed that cult activities in the state has increaded but his command are embarking on desensitization campaign to various schools in the state to enlighten the students on the need to shun cultism.

He warned that if the new trend is not checked, these boys would turn out robbers and kidnappers who would bring no good to the state.

Anyanwu then revealed that his command recently arrested a kingpin of a popular cult group in Ikwo local government area of the state.
