Back to Life, Back to reality
Folks! At least by now,you should have realized
that the fantasies you had in school about life out
there for you as a medical graduate is far too
esoteric to what is happening right now. Industrial
actions,poor pay,Non-payment of your
wage, hampering your capacity to meet up on the
luxuries and the essentials. Every year more
doctors flood the streets with few slots available for
postgraduate training and employment posts.
Employment after postgraduate school is getting
more competitive too.Is this the end? "Do we still
have options?" You ask. Maybe my piece of writing
could flicker a flame at the end of the tunnel for a
few.

Add some icing to your cake and if possible
toppings
The bachelors of medicine and surgery is like a
brown chunk of cake.Sometimes unappealing to
the eye but sweet to the mouth. You need to dress it
up with icing and if need be sprinkle some toppings.
'Icing and toppings' here mean relevant skills and
further training. Sometimes, you just need to look
'outside the box' completely.By this I mean
something entirely different from medicine. I
believe as a medical graduate even though you fail
to secure a postgraduate training post, your options
are still endless. Let me take a moment to highlight
a few that comes to my mind. It is up to you to take
a bold step into your future while you keep
pressing forward for your residency post.

CONCLUSION-

This is frankly my personal opinion from my
perspective and little experience. I am not in
anyway saying that all the people who followed the
options highlighted are now megastars living large.
All I am driving at is, instead of fighting with allied
professionals over the hospital space, there are
other areas where a Nigerian medical officer can
add value, live a sensible life and be happy. I hope
you find my article interesting. Thanks for your
time.
