[b][/b]Barcelona's members, who have owned the club since it was founded in 1899, are choosing their president for the next six years.
The date chosen for them to cast their vote has come halfway through July, which hasn't happened since Joan Gaspart beat Luis Bassat in 2000. On that day, with no game on at the Camp Nou, the turnout was 49.3%. On other occasions, when there has been a match, the turnout has also been similar.In order to vote, or take part in any of the big day's other events, an ID card or passport that matches a membership card is required. In total, 109,367 people have been called to the polls to pick a president from Josep Maria Bartomeu, Joan Laporta, Agustí Benedito and Toni Freixa.
The Barça elections will result in a huge commotion in the city, with a panoply of figures performing various tasks for the big day. From chairpersons and members of polling stations (a total of 136) to candidates and their teams, private security, auditors and medical staff, who'll make sure the voters are safe at all times.
