Illiteracy is very high in Nigeria and the govt. Is very irresponsible.
Civilised people don't kill wild animals again in this 21st century. If they see a stray animal, they call the authorities to evacuate the animal.

Unfortunately in Nigeria, they want to eat the monkey and the govt is not there to rescue the animal.
Careless hungry people vs irresponsible govt.

That "monkey" is a Baboon.

Let's shove this "if it was in advanced countries" ish, it's really sickening. You cannot just put an animal in the zoo without proper quarantine and solid lab tests, not in this Ebola period wherein we have been made to understand that monkeys cum baboons and bats are primary carriers. Killing it may have been a good idea for health sake but removing the carcass without the technical know-how is far more risky at this point since the Ebola status of the baboon is uncertain.

NB: those who killed it and those who watched should be placed under close watch.
I guess you did not see treated in my post. We just hope that carcass doesn't contain any deadly virus, else we will just be seeing another deadly disease outbreak because it was reported that the animal killed some livestocks in that area and I guess you know what would have happened, the people there might have probably touched or who knows eaten them.

Poor unfortunate animal was born in the zoo.

The zoo which does not recognize the right to life of its citizens talk more of animals

In saner countries, we would be domesticated and turned to a movie star

If 'treated' was in your post then I missed it, apologies. I sincerely agree with you though. When wild animals are maimed or killed in this part of the country, snapshots and poses come first then the 'men' either divide it raw there or take it one of their homes where others would join in the fest.

The State government should put the community under watch. Ogun State may not be able to contain an Ebola breakout, God forbid.

Op! it is a baboon and it is not a native animal of the region.my guess is that it escaped from its owner most probably a tanker driver(as they are known for this).
and baboons are not solitary travellers they move in groups.
learnt a large congregation of baboons is called a congress cool
