The reason we don't have triangular or square planet is mostly due to gravity. Because they are all formed hot, gravity pulls the foundation material towards the middle. when you add revolution speed and others you end up with something spherical.

Same thing with all the stars (our sun is also a star - a yellow dwarf).

With a very cheap telescope that cost less than $30 you can see jupitar and most of her moons and Saturn with her beautiful ring. Scale that up to equipment that cost 500 million $ I think you'll be able to detect alien fart (whichever radiation or color it may come in}.
