Senator Patrick Leahy's Offensive Comments On Nigeria Army.. by ConfessionsNgr: 8:02pm On Jul 26, 2015
In his response to President Buhari's allegation of US aiding and abetting Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria, the originator of the Leahy Law, Senator Patrick Leahy wrote on his personal website: "It is well documented by the state Department and by respected human rights organizations that Nigeria army personnel have for many years engaged in a pattern and practice of gross violations of human rights against the Nigerian people
...... But rather than suggest that US is at fault for not funding MURDERERS AND RAPISTS in the Nigerian Militrary, he (Buhari) should face up to his own responsibility to effectively counter Boko Haram".
There are two sides to a coin and likewise this. We can not rule out the fact that Nigerian soldiers are brutal, maltreat and manhandle innocent Nigerians they are meant to protect, many lives have been lost because of #20 bribe, they treat fellow Nigerians as if they are animals, the list of their atrocities is endless. We must equally commend them for confronting the deadly Boko Haram even with less-sophisticated weapons.
But are the American soldiers in anyway better? They have their records of atrocities well hidden from the media. Which country militrary does not have its own misdeeds? The US accusing our army of human rights violation have aided the Israeli militrary in attacks on its own citizen who are of Arab descent. What about the militrary assistance to Ukriane to kill those who are pro-Russia? Maybe they didn't know that it is human rights violation by trying to force the legalization of Gayism on us. They only aid countries where their selfish interest would be protected, like Libya becuase of their interest on the crude oil. They should give us another reason for not wanting to sell arms to us instead of the flimsy Leahy's law. It is high time Nigeria looked inward and proffer solutions to our problems instead of cringing at the feet of the Americans to bail us out on almost everything.
