It is quite worrisome that after spending four to five years at Imo state university Owerri, to receive ones certificate is a thug of war.When you visit the Registrar's office the staffs are not welcoming neither do they understand what its like to be a graduate without a certificate.One cannot apply for Scholarships,one cannot receive his master's degree without it,at work one is harassed of the veracity of his claim of being a first degree holder,the list is unending.When you visit the office to inquire on what one could do to get his before the school remembers convocation which is long overdue you are told to come on Thursday for such, even when you visit on a Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday or Friday.If these staffs were indeed humane they could at least bear the distance one has covered for such.Some travel all the way from the Northern part of the country and Southern part of the country.What is even more starling is the outrageous fee of #20,000 demanded before one can process his. I want to commend a staff of that department in the person of Mr Curtis(Assistant Registrar) if the average staff could be effective as he is then that department would be more effective.I want to seize this opportunity to call the attention of the state Governor and the commissioner of Education to look into this.We need our certificates please.
