Now I see why we fail Exams! Always using calculators. The answer here is "5" and Not "7". Cc. Oga seun. |

19naia:You keep talking about "Mathe", pure maths, dialects and what not. If you could only bring some evidence for your claims. But please don't say that BODMAS is being used incorrectly. Here's what Wikipedia says about the order of operations: The order of operations used throughout mathematics, science, technology and many computer programming languages is expressed here:[2] - exponents and roots - multiplication and division - addition and subtraction (Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_operations ) So it's Addition AND Subtraction. NOT addition then Subtraction. Both have Equal order of precedence. Neither precedes the other. Please. Simply put: if I have 6 oranges in a bag, take away none (zero) and then add 1 orange, how many would there be in the bag eventually?! 5?! Or 7? Like many have said, this is primary school maths and it's quite sad a simple question like this has become a debate. It's a challenge for us to step up our game and improve ourselves intellectually. There are many resources in the Web for learning - instead of wasting data money and time on gossip, movies and what not. And then we complain we can't get jobs!! We really are the bane of our own problems. |

Even a primary 2 student should b abile 2 solve this... BODMAS bracket of Division Multiplication Addition then Subtraction 6-1*0+2/2 OK 6(-1*0)+(2/2) =6(0)+(2/2) =(6*0)+(2/2) =0+(2/2) =0+1 =1 Final Answer. fun though. |

To those who had 0 and 1,i'm sorry you are irredeemably dumb. To those who had 5 atleast you've shown glimpses of hope,its just that your fees were shortchanged therefore the need to go back to school to make-up for it. My humble suggestion. 1 Like 1 Share |

Kelewele: True shyt. However, I disagree about the irredeemably dumb people. Those are the ones who got it wrong, saw the correct answer and steps, and STILL came back here to insist that the answer is 1,5, or 0. People who went to school only need to see the solution once before they slap themselves. 2 Likes |

19naia:You are not applying bodmas correctly. You don't have to add bracket except there is already a bracket in the equation. |

6-1=5,5*0=0,therefore 0+2=2÷2=1 so therefore the ans is 1 |

Lol... what a thread... really, how difficult is this?? a lot of people still find it difficult to apply brackets.. I can only assist those still getting 5... if u want to introduce a bracket before a sign for simplicity u have to put the sign in the bracket and feature a + sign.. e.g 6-0+1 6+(-0+1)= 6+(+1)= 6+1=7. recall +*+=+ p.s if you are still having problems getting to the first stage, ask for help instead of criticising.. thank you 2 Likes 1 Share |

BODMAS == Bracket ( ) -first Of Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction -Last 6-1x0+2÷2 = 6-1x0+(2÷2) =6-1x0+1 =6-(1x0)+1=6-0+1=6-(0+1)=6-1=5 |
Re: Many Persons Will Fail This Maths (photo) by Lnrprince(m): 8:54am On Jul 30, 2015 |
since ..A of B is equal to AB
therefore .....
using BODMAS
6(-1*0)+2/2.....?
2/2.. equals 1
the answer is
1 |

miketayo: At dis point I understand that u don't recognize exceptionals in math.. Here is a proven set of the equation. Let see which one is correct: I say the ansa is 7 right, now look at this: If, 6-1x0+2/2=7 Then, 6-0+1=7 Now let substitute any number wit (z) 6-z+1=7 6-z=7-1 6-z=6 -z=6-6 Z= -0 If u look at d equation a minus should stand in front of zero since our Z represent 0. If u equate your equation to 5 then ur Z will be 2, which means u re reffering to an equation entirely diffrent from the one we are solving.. |
Re: Many Persons Will Fail This Maths (photo) by hollowpot15684(m): 11:14am On Jul 30, 2015 |
donchizzy07: Believe me using bodmas ordinarily will give u both 5 and 7 as the ansa. Proving in this case will solve the qst. |

7 using BODMAS 2/2=1 -1*0=0 6+1=7 |
