Meanwhile, janeJoanjohn, sabatok, Chommieblaq, Dheartless, BukkyAdeyemi and others, take a look at this and I bet you, a category is there to come for you to nominate who angered you most OK and Vote accordingly.

And again, it's only janeJoanjohn that would qualify for the category of the MOST CONTROVERSIAL as others can only vote later.

Oh sorry, Chommieblaq too can be nominated for that too. grin

This is just to make you smile again as you were used to before you went away not until today and indeed your welcome back ringtone actually sparked off a very beneficial energy in our beloved Golden City Republic grin

Brilliant. Applies to the ladies also. Your friends are getting married doesn't mean you should. Marriage last time I checked is till death do us part. Do not rush things so as not to bite your fingers in regret. Those things we desire will come at the right time. Don't let the society push you, they will not suffer with you when Ε₯heres a downfall. #Bless

Thanks bro!

The 20s are the most interesting period of anyone's life. A period that can make, bend or break you if you are not strong enough. A time in your life you'd have to move on. Move on from school, from jobs, from your parent's house, from certain friendships and relationships.
Believe 20s can be frustrating, Family and Society look up to you for so many things, and it's so bad if u are from a poor background, ur family will want you to start taking up responsibilities (even if u jobless), and if u d first child (I can only imagine d pressure). And what about the girls, u hit mid 20s (23-25) with no serious relationship (hell let loose if u d first daughter), no job, you are a damn PCM.

Now let's share our views bout life in 20s, d expectations placed on us, our own expectations, our fears, how to deal with the brouhaha that comes with it all. Believe me 20s is a difficult phase.

Well, society has so far evolved that not having a house or a car at 20's is seen as irresponsibility or being lazy.

The 20's is the important part of a man's life where he decides who to marry, when he will marry, where he gets a job and choose a career path, where he has to get a car and a house. Where family members starts asking him for morning. And all sorts like that.
A mistake at this stage can lead to a bad future.

My attitude towards the 20's is to have a plan and a projection and take things one step at a time. One stage at a time.
And also, I should backup plans, so in a case where one stage doesn't click in a particular plan I switch to the other plan and re-evaluate things.

Lastly, I believe expectations from people - family and friends inclusive- can lead someone into doing something.
Because your friend has gotten this, you too must get that. That's bad.
Work at your own pace and be hard-working. No one knows the future. We all have different life journey.

Thanks dear!
Tanx for your contribution, many are frustrated, the 20s is posing a big problem for em, it's evident in d way they talk n live, always on the edge.
Some of us our parent suffer so much to send us to school, while some have to see em selves through sch. Then after that, getting a job becomes an uphill task, no fund to even kick up ur own business, it really disheartening.
I remember when I got out from sch, I decided to get a job to keep ma self busy before nysc, mehn I waka tire, then a secondary sch called me for interview, I went through all the necessary interview n protocols, the principal started acting funny(all because am looking for a job), calling me at odd hours and all sorts, I got tired and use the little money I had then to buy some stuff n sell. That experience got me thinking wah about ppl with no money, how do they cope.
This is a phase when many ppl go astray, I implore every one of us, as we go for our service year, it's not all about the fun, it's a tough world out there, don't live up to ppl expectations, don't compare your life with odas, (it's frustrating seeing your friends that has made it big, so u ll only add to your frustration) set your own goals and live up to your own expectations.

That will be hard.

You might be bounced. And if you have travelled a long journey, that would be bad.

Try. And get an ID card from your school.

Or get a letter of Identification stating that you're a student.
Letter head containing the address of the school.
Then with a stamp.
That should do it.

But you should be able to have a departmental ID card

I don't think you need a government ID card for registration in camp
Thanks for the tip. Will check in with my school and see what can be done

Nice topic.
Well, I can connect with the first child part.
I must tell you, its indeed a tough period.
Its a period where there will so be much critiquing on the decisions you make and how every decision taken will either make or mar u.
As the first child and being the first graduate of my family, I won't be kidding when say i have had a large dose of the responsibility talk.
Talks about the enormous responsibility of the first child.
About how my actions and even inactions can either have a positive or negative effect on my siblings.
About how I have gradually grown into the man that i am and how they soon expect me to cater for my younger ones, even to an extent during my service year.
I was having a conversation with my dad some days back, and he was so particular about how he wishes for me to get a nice job so quickly and as a matter of actuality, be responsible for not only myself, but at large to my siblings.
Now wouldn't you agree with me that this so much expectation on me at this time of my life is quite on the overboard? Well maybe yes or no.
I mean, In my 20 something years of existence, i have had to face the fact that i represent my father's image and in general my Family's, being the first child, son and graduate.
This then means that my work by the powerful hands of providence have been made harder and tougher, because I have to work harder to make it; to get it right, so i can be as they would say a positively leading example to my siblings.
Trust me, It's a whole lot of work cut out for me;
It would'nt be any easy, but then it's what providence have place before me and this i have accepted a long time ago.. I hope this inspires my kind.
Thanks for the topic.

concerning your question, it helps if you have a good support system and you build a strong network that will give you good advice, mentor you and also inform you about job openings, professional courses, seminars and generally anything that will advance your development personally and career wise.
Also, let's not forget mental health... it's very important that you don't allow depression to set in.when it does, seeing a professional is very important. people don't take mental health seriously. It's a lot of pressure being in your twenties, it's important to know how to deal with that pressure and set goals that aren't impossible.
Tanx dear.
Lemme add, mental health and will power tops it all for me,because sometimes one might not
have a strong support system, buh will power will keep you pushing, living a positive lifestyle, surround yourself with people of like mind. Above all always go to the Most High.
PS : one should always find a way to relieve the mental health of stress.

There is so much pressure for you to success and succeed "fast"....I think the pressure is what really gets me.And the expectations... from parents, siblings, family friends....as if your life has been written in stone and all you need to do is follow accordingly. Well,we shouldn't forget the God factor, you might make plans and he might make a different plan. All in all,it's always better to remember everything might not go according to plan in your twenties, so been prepared is key.

Who told u Nysc issues are no longer discussed herein? If u get question, ask am; u go see d number of peeps wey go answer ur question(s). All what these set of peeps (JJJ and Aunty Adeyemi) have succintly tagged as childish charades are what make this thread lively. Without all these, discussions here would be too insipid and vapid.
Abeg, anyone wey dey here gahz come down to our level(should d person consider him/herself more mature than all others).
