By Henry Umoru & Joseph Erunke ABUJA – SENATORS of the northern part of the country, elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who joined others Tuesday, to pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Thursday, distanced themselves from alleged report in the media that they were working against the interest of President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking at a news conference, addressed by the chairman, Senate ad- hoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Dino Melaye, the senators described the publication in a national daily (not Vanguard), which alleged that 22 Northern senators, who signed the vote of confidence motion on Saraki, were actually those working against Buhari in the senate as misleading. Melaye, who represents Kogi West senatorial zone, noted with concern that the report which tagged the affected senators as anti – Buhari, was wicked, satanic and unacceptable because all of them actually worked for Buhari’s victory at the poll and had determined to ensure the success of his administration. Senator Melaye also alleged that the sponsors of the publication were actually the real enemies of the president, as according to him, their action was capable of causing disunity between the South and the North. He said the publication was a great disservice to the country even as he maintained that the members and leadership of the 8th Senate was committed to moving the nation forward by ensuring the success of Buhari’s programmes and policies. Also speaking at the press conference, Senator Binta Garba, APC, Adamawa North, wondered why somebody like her could be mischievously linked to groups that would be against Buhari when her people were looking forward to Buhari to end insurgency in the North East. “My father, who was the driver of General Muhammadu Buhari when he was in the, military, will never forgive me if I work against the president. It is not possible for me to work against him,”she said.
