If there's anything I have learnt in Nigeria in the last one year,it is the fact that I shouldn't believe 90% of whatever read in the media. PDP has not being the best of political parties in Nigeria but the advent of the APC,has taken politics to a different level in this country. By the time we add up all the looting and embezzlement of funds carried out by all politicians(irrespective of party affiliations),the endemic menace of corruption that has eaten deep into the grassroots, and the recent politics of lies and propaganda that the APC has introduced into the nation's politics, you'd find a very complex situation for a multi-ethnic country like Nigeria,to be in. Most of the agitation all over the place, are as a result of lies and misinformation being spread and passed around. If I as an adult, find it difficult to know the truth about some of the things going on in this country, seeing that there is always a form of denial of almost every major story that hits the airwaves,I wonder how we'd be able to convey the events of this era to the upcoming generation, without twisting the facts and telling a lie(whether intentionally or unintentionally). The PDP,APC,sahara reporters and other forms of mass media, spreading lies around, haven't helped the nation. Social media has also brought about its own problem and has even added more fuel to an already raging fire. Nigeria is a place where a lot of lies are being told daily in the media. The unfortunate thing is that years down the line, the generations coming up,will never get to know the truth about their country cos a lot of lies and counter opinions would be passed down to them and would make it difficult for them to know which is the truth, and which is a lie. At the end of the day, everyone's history about Nigeria, would simply be what their parents passed down to them. Those who pass down the many lies of today to their kids, would have successfully robbed them of the ability of knowing their true history. Nigeria will still end up breaking up in the nearest future cos the lies and counter accussations of today, would be the fuel that will drive the process of secession and disintegration. There is no way the unity of this country can be cemented with the amount of lies going out daily and the fact that this is going to continue unabated,is a pointer to where this nation is headed to.

To all those who intentionally take out time to peddle falsehood about the state of the nation(both politically, religiously, culturally and economically),keep it up. In a not too distant future from now,the results of your actions individually, would be seen and brought to the forefront.

Tinubu and co have been rejoicing over the great works of Mr. Lair who introduced lies and propaganda into Naija politics without thinking about the long term results.

APC is to Nigeria what anti Christ is to the world but only the gullible is yet to read between the lines.

They think they are winning not knowing they are being used to actualise the predictions of the CIA whose prophesy Gej managed to crush "only for awhile though" by placing that call.

Before the emergence of APC, yes there was enmity among Nigerian regions but the hate has got to its apogee in recent times and the resultant effect will definitely be a crash. This time, not a plane crash but a country crash. undecided

The level of dishonesty in Nigerian politics is simply a reflection of the character of Nigerians who are notoriously dishonest. To imply that APC introduced lies to Nigerian politics is in itself the height of dishonesty. What about all the claims that Buhari and Sanusi are behind Boko Haram?

All that has changed is that social media makes it easier to disseminate lies. I will acknowledge that APC has taken lying up a gear or two but lying is hardly novel in Nigerian politics.

Comprehend me well. I don't mean APC introduced lies to politics. They introduced a special brand of politics,a type seriously laden with "lies and propaganda" as the main ingredient. We have never had it this bad, where we hear something this minute and in another 30mins,it has been countered with proofs and in the next 1hr,a new position is being adopted...

But what is really new to lying in Nigerian politics apart from the means of dissemination? When Awolowo was charged with treasonable felony, when the 1966 Nzeogwu coup was characterised as an Igbo coup, e.t.c. All these were lies and propaganda perpetrated by our fathers and grandfathers generation.

I agree that the frequency or volume of lies seem to have gone up but I think that is because of technology. Lies are easier to disseminate. What amazes me about the lies is the lack of accountability and the ease with which lies are told, abandoned and new lies distributed. Who remembers that a few weeks ago, Dasuki was being accused of treasonable felony? That Buhari promised to constitute a cabinet within his first week? That politicians from the GEJ era were returning the stolen loot? Few seem to follow up on these claims as they are quietly dropped and a new lie disseminated.

These are the things I'm talking about. It's just so embarrassing and annoying. As it is,when you hear a news report in naija, you'd have to wait for about 3 days or a week,to know how true what you have heard,is.
