its time for we as Nigerians to stand up for a change. Things can never get better if we the citizenry do not stand up from our slumber. The problem with Nigerian is that, we do not have a cause, cos if we do, we shall fight for what we believe in. No great Nation ever became great without fighting those who are only interested in their own personal interest. I am not a politician, but im sure every one of us knows the great works that this woman(Dora) has done in these country, if given a chance will change these country 360. Enough of hand picking, we cannot continue to surffer amidst plenty, its time for change and the change starts with us, |

kosovo: Hey Mister, don't turn this into a tribal bashing thread. All the people you have called names already are from the same tribe(Ndigbo). Soludo has done so much to help nigerias economy. The only thing obstructing him is Nigeria itself. When he proposes policies that will help the nation, illiterate sycophants surrounding Yaradua will always find something to say-IF don't blame him for not taking permission from them, they will cook up a lie to blackmail him just as they are doing so they can take his job now and run the country back again to the 20th century. Nigeria should wake up. How could a mentally normal president give a person like Akunyili her current position looking at the great things she did in NAFDAC? iT JUST shows the brains of people ruling our country. With her kind of spirit and hardwork, i personally think she can do way better than Sick Yaradua and old illeterate military Obj. |

Strength10:Thats why we never grow, so because they are from the same tribe i should say nothing? Soludo has done so much to help nigerias economy. yes by deceiving NIGERIANS that the GLOBAL MELTDOWN woun't affect Us,? but just on monday, NSE lost a wooping N34Billion, i am not sure you are aware of the crises in the banking sector, is it not the same man that wanted to change the Nigeria notes after only less than 2 years of introduction of new notes under his leadership.? The only thing obstructing him is Nigeria itself. know how to make use of your stupidity. When he proposes policies that will help the nation, illiterate sycophants surrounding Yaradua will always find something to say-IF don't blame him for not taking permission from them, they will cook up a lie to blackmail him just as they are doing so they can take his job now and run the country back again to the 20th century. pathetic. for the fact that he has been in Nigeria for long, he should have known that, (infact he knew- just wanted media attention) he needed to seek permission from the F.G just the same way commercia banks takes permission form the central bank. or maybe he is simply DUMB! Nigeria should wake up. How could a mentally normal president give a person like Akunyili her current position looking at the great things she did in NAFDAC?I never knew NAFDAC was Akunyili's father house. 140 million and still counting iT JUST shows the brains of people ruling our country. With her kind of spirit and hardwork, i personally think she can do way better than Sick Yaradua and old illeterate military Obj.so what have you actually said? Now i know, for the fact that you think DORA can do better than Yar adua, then NIGERIA IS HOPELESS. how can somebody just wake up and say let do a REBRAND?, that's the most hopeless, arrogant, plain, unassuming and unintelligent thing i have seen Nigeria do in the last 2 years.

|

@ KOSOVO You're the greatest fool that i've seen in a long while. You're one of those who are somewhere plotting nigeria's downfall. So after all Dora has done for this country you still have the temerity to discredit her, much less in public, that shows how idiotic your sense of reasoning is. |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by texazzpete(m): 12:51pm On Mar 23, 2009 |
Even if Dora did a decent job in NAFDAC, does that make her good Presidential material? As a columnist said in Sunday Vangard, the 'rebrand Nigeria' campaign shows a lack of creativity and imagination. |

Re: Dora Akunyili For President by ud4u: 1:29pm On Mar 23, 2009 |
If Soludo did not work well and Akunyili did not work well too, I wonder who have worked in this country. Lets know how to appreciate what people have done or better still put your self in their shoe lets see what you will do. Even if is one impact that Soludo and Akunyili made in the society it is suppose to be appreciated because if every leader is making at least one impact before they leaves, bet me Nigeria will turn around in no distance time. |

Dora Akunyili - will be worst Charles Soludo - will be worst so forget about them cos they cannot change Nigeria ONLY GOD THAT CAN HELP |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by homegirl1: 3:32pm On Mar 23, 2009 |
Please the question was dora akunyili for president not whether she is worst or not and the poster did not mention charles soludo's name so why the diversion. come to think of it, dora and soludo have done this country more good than harm. the proplem with some nigerias is that they are somehow myopic. charles soludo like him or hate him is a genius and no matter how you tarnish his image will continue to fly cos millions of nigerians are with him. my sister dora the amazon is a hardworking woman and smart too. |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by mustafar1: 3:38pm On Mar 23, 2009 |
home girl: and her smartness gave her inspiration to come up with the genius rebranding idea thats not carrying people along. we might as well pitch mike adenuga as her running mate then since he brought us Glo, a nigerian owned phone company in the sea of many foreign ones. |

Dora cant rule Nigeria the only thing she has proven good at is being the DG of Nafdac she's a pharmacist let her rule where her specialization makes sense! |

Re: Dora Akunyili For President by Epiphany(m): 5:40pm On Mar 23, 2009 |
Dora Akunyili cannot rule Nigeria. She will either die or be killed within the first few weeks of her presidency. This country does not need a Dora or Soludo or even an Okonjo - Iweala - these people are too 'professional' in what they do and in their understanding of issues. Too professional in the sense that Soludo and Iweala will mostly only understand economic issues. I mean, look at what Akunyili is doing now. Rebranding Nigeria. How can you rebrand a country that is rotten? A country that is not doing well, a country that is consistently at the bottom of the worlds corruption table. What kind of rebranding is that? If she was smart, she should not have accepted that portfolio. What this country needs is an IBB like person but WITH VERY GOOD INTENTIONS. Someone who can be wicked (towards the wicked) and at the same time, be very tactful, compassionate and diplomatic. Someone whose words and utterances can sting and at the same time soothe. Or maybe a Fashola kind of person, someone who has a vision and a goal and is very systematic in his/her trying to achieving them |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by chiomy4u: 2:31pm On Mar 26, 2009 |
i am really disapointed in many of u who have posted rubish here, That is the reason why this country is going from bad to worst, because of the likes of those who thinks they know better and can do better than those in position, Before Dora came into the helms of affairs at the information ministry, have u ever heard of anything meaningful from that ministry?? The problems with most nigerian is that, they dont have the knowlegde of wat they are saying before they open their smelling bucal cavity to talk rubish, Rebranding Nigeria is for our own good, for those of us who do international business will understand what i am saying, there is a saying that says, 'a good name is better than silver and gold", We have bad image outside, that is wat our dear minister is trying 2 clean up, and that bad image was created by we Nigerians, the woman is cleanin up our mess and we are complaining, wat rubish, |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by Epiphany(m): 4:10pm On Mar 26, 2009 |
chiomy4u: Before Dora came into that ministry, someone else tried to Rebrand Nigeria and his efforts failed. A former minister of information, Chukwuemeka Chikelu tried to do this, during the early Obasanjo era - hence what Dora is doing is not new. Sorry to digress from the original topic, but Nigeria cannot be rebranded until certain things take place - things like education, health, infrastructure, corruption etc have to be tackled and sorted out, before any 'meaningful' rebranding can take place. Let me use a little story that we may all understand: Imagine a situation where a manufacturer of drinks (take Coca cola for example) has been blacklisted because certain impurities have been found in their drinks. Imagine finding cockroach eggs in a few bottles of coke. Imagine everyone in Nigeria hears about this and Coca cola is hit by a wave of people refusing to drink Coke. They are losing market share and decide to do something about it. They decide to REBRAND their image and inform people that they are now a new and improved coca cola company. They tell Nigerians that you can now trust coke and start drinking it again. They promise everyone that they have cleaned up their acts. People believe them and start drinking coke again, AND MANY MORE PEOPLE FIND THE SAME COCKROACH EGGS INSIDE MORE BOTTLES OF COKE. WILL THAT REBRANDING WORK? NO IT WILL NOT. It is the same situation Nigeria finds herself in. Dora is rebranding Nigeria without taking care of the internal maggots first! |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by proudly9ja(m): 9:47pm On Mar 26, 2009 |
I keep saying that people do not understand what they expect from Dora. Asking Dora to clean up the mess in Nigeria just shows ignorance. I just listened to the NTA News now where Dora was shown carrying her rebranding campaign to the Nigerian Police. One thing she said is that Nigeria and Nigerians need Re-orientation. She went on to talk about police men illegally arresting innocent Nigerians for 'wandering' when all they were doing was taking a stroll outside. She said, this is what she is trying to change. That the poice need to change their orientation and so does every individual in Nigeria. I think those who have condemned Dora, including eminent journalists have only done so because they hae not really stopped to think about what should be done. As regards the CocaCola story someone mentioned above, I want to ask Mr Epiphany, if Cocal Cola has that kind of problem you highlighted, what will the PR of Cocacola be doing? Is it his/her job to make sure that the debris found in cocacola be removed? Not at all. His work is branding. Rather what he will do is spend millions on adverts REBRANDING Cocalcola. And that is exactly what Dora is doing. She is doing her Job! And for those who choose to select stories they hear, I just watched Dora addressing a press conference on state of the communication companies in Nigeria including her directive to them to improve dropped calls. Noone will see that. We only see what we want to see. Finally, if Dora, and some of the people named above cannot rule Nigeria, can you guys please name someone who can rule Nigeria? |

Re: Dora Akunyili For President by mustafar1: 9:58pm On Mar 26, 2009 |
proudly9ja: she is being made to look the way we see her by those that put her there. cos going by ur example, she is doing her job but someone else sure isnt cos the things she is trying to rebrand havent been touched by those that should touch it to get better or fixed. |
Re: Dora Akunyili For President by Epiphany(m): 10:18pm On Mar 26, 2009 |
@Proudly9ja must_a_far has helped me out, and i totally agree Yes, Dora is doing her job but others are not doing theirs - since we agree that both jobs (Dora's as well as the 'others') go together, that means that Dora is still GOING TO FAIL in her duty of trying to rebrand. |
