Indications emerged over the weekend that Justice Oloyede Folahanmi of Osun State Judiciary may have been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over her claims in the petition sent to the anti-graft body.

Oloyede had in a 39-page petition, copies of which were sent to both the EFCC and ICPC, accused the governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of financial mismanagement of the state’s resources.

The judge also copied the state’s House of Assembly the petition and demanded Aregbesola’s impeachment for allegedly committing some constitutional breaches.

Sources close to the judge disclosed that she was invited to Abuja office of the commission to further shed light on some of her claims.

It was, however, learnt that Oloyede declined the invitation, advising the commission to, instead of inviting her to its office, come to the state and look through the government’s financial records.

A source close to the judge told our correspondent yesterday that she was invited by official of the commission, who contacted her through her mobile line.

“Yes, she was invited to Abuja office of the EFCC, but Oloyede told the officer that spoke with her that the commission should send its operatives down to Osun, having been given enough information in the petition sent to it,” the source said.

Another reason the judge gave for her inability to honour the commission’s invitation, it was further learnt, was poor state of her finances, claiming she had not been paid some months salaries and as such could not afford to finance any trip that will involve her paying for hotel and transportation.
