WRITTEN BY INSPIRATION THE WAILINGS OF A TRUE IGBO SON: I AM A WAILER AND PROUD TO BE ONE! TO THE PEOPLE OF MY NATION READING THIS, I WANT YOU TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE PARTS IN BOLD I usually laugh with scorn whenever I come on Nairaland and read threads like; Igbos this and Igbos that. One of such threads is this; https://www.nairaland.com/2500452/joe-igbokwe-igbo-play-opposition. Who made Joe Igbokwe the mouth piece of the Igbos? Can these fellows live a day without mentioning the Igbos? If one were to observe very well, they will notice that Nigerians expected the Igbos to cry blue murder when Jonathan was evicted. Nigerians expected the Igbo nation to cry and beg for political appointments. But they were surprised. Life in the East has remained normal. Had it been their Northern candidate lost, we know that hell would have broken loose by now! But in the East and South, It was as if Nothing happened. Even when their preferred candidate Jonathan lost; no riots was experienced in the East. Everything was normal as expected. But will Nigerians leave Igbos alone? I doubt that. Will they stay a day without mentioning this unique tribe? Very impossible. What did the Igbos do? Is there anything wrong that we did specifically? I DOUBT THAT. Why then are the Igbos hated so much? Why are the powers that be (Hausa Fulani), always trying to marginalise the Igbos? Why are other major tribes; Hausa, Yoruba etc so resentful of the Igbos? I know that quite a number of Nigerians and a quite number of the Igbo nation are still seeking the answers to this salient question. Now your search ends. I have known these answers all these years from my experience in traveling round the country and some other parts of the world. I AM AN IGBO MAN AND WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD I WAS CREATED ONE. I CAN NEVER DENY MY IDENTITY FOR POLITICAL APPOINTMENTS NOR SELL MY TRIBE FOR MONETARY GAINS! ANYDAY I TRY SUCH, GOD TAKE MY LIFE! I LOVE THE IGBO NATION WITH PASSION AND YES: I AM TRIBALISTIC! I WILL NEVER DENY THAT! Back to the answer as to why the Igbos are resented and hated so much, I wouldnt know how to summarize it in a writing but am going to do it by borrowing a paragraph from Chinua Achebe's "There was a Country". It goes thus; "I have written in my small book entitled "The Trouble With Nigeria" that Nigerians will probably achieve consensus on no other matter than their common resentment of the Igbo. The origin of the national resentment of the Igbo is as old as Nigeria and quite as complicated. But it can be summarized thus: The Igbo culture, being receptive to change, individualistic and highly competetive, gave the Igbo man an unquestioned advantage over his compatriots in securing credentials for advancement in Nigerian colonial society. Unlike the Hausa/Fulani; he was unhindered by a wary religion and unlike the Yoruba, he was unhampered by traditional hierarchies. This kind of creature fearing no god or man, was custom-made to grasp the opportunities, such as they were, of the white mans dispensations. And the Igbo did so with both hands. Although the Yoruba's had a huge historical and geographical head start, the Igbo wiped out their handicap in one fantastic burst of energy in the twenty years between 1930 and 1950! Had the Igbo been a minor ethnic group of a few hundred thousand, their menace might have been easily and quietly contained. But their members ran in millions. As in J.P Clark's fine image of "ants filing out of the wood", the Igbo moved out of their forest home, scattered and virtually seized the floor". Paul Anber explains; "With unparalleled rapidity, the Igbos advanced in the shortest period of time of all Nigeria's ethnic groups. Like the Jews , to whom they have been frequently likened, they progressed despite being a minority in the country, filling the ranks of the nation's educated, prosperous upper classes...... It was not long before the educational and economic progress of the Igbos led to their becoming the major source of administrators, managers, technicians and civil servants for the country, occupying senior positions out of proportion to their numbers. Particularly with respect to the Federal public service and the government statuory corporations, this led to accusations of an Igbo monopply of essential services to the exclusion of other ethnic groups"! To Be continued! 13 Likes 1 Share |

This thread will be like a diary where Igbos will unite and discuss. I trust the Igbo nation not to be disturbed by the activites of Nigerians on this thread like the poster above me. As this thread progresses, we are going to be bring out issues bothering us as the Biafran nation and then seek ways forward. Hopefully, our political leaders will see this. True Igbo sons will emerge and decide that enough is enough! We know the Hausa/Fulani mafia. We know what they can do and what they cannot do. Our promise to them is not to dare the Igbo warrior spirit.... Nobody has a monopoly of violence. The Igbo nation nation has never been afraid and will never be afraid. 3 Likes |

How did you arrive at the fact that the preferred candidates of Igbo people was Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) ? The fact that they did not protest after PMB was declared the winner is shows that Nigerians devoid of religion or tribe wants PMB. It is quite unfortunate that few people like you amongst Igbo race cannot see beyond ethnicity and tribe. If I may ask, Were the Igbo people better off under GEJ? You spoke about resentment for Igbo people by other tribes. This is laughable as I implore you to get your facts right. Go to other places around the country and see the number of successful Igbo businesses compared to number of businesses owned by other tribes in your region. Dear brother it's hightime that people like you from south eastern part of the country seek reorientation and know that articles like this would bring nothing good to our national development but rather chaos, conflict, hatred and divisions. Stop propagating lies and falsehood. Let's support the leadership of General Muhammadu Buhari so that all tribe and all Nigerians can benefit from the dividend of democracy. Remember PMB belongs to everyone and belongs to no one. God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria. 3 Likes |

I have travelled to some parts of the world and seen what my Igbo brothers are doing to survive. The Igbo nation are truely an oil for the engineering of a nation. That is why they have refused to let us go! Nigerians are aware that the need the ingenuity and creativity of the Igbos for this nation to survive. They know that they need the knowledge and god given intellect of the Igbo people to survive. That is why they refuse to let them go. But Alas, even if takes 500 years, Biafra will stand. If not, the souls of of the over three million Igbos killed will continue to haunt us for justice. THERE WAS A COUNTRY CALLED BIAFRA AND THERE WILL BE A COUNTRY CALLED. I usually laugh when I see some Igbo folks say that the Yoruba people are problem of this nation or the Igbo people by extension. Technically, they may be... Owing to the fact of their eternal subservient attitude to their principals who are the main architect of the problem of the Igbos. Let me use this opportunity to remind the Igbo nation that the Yoruba people are not our problem centrally speaking. The Northerners as it is in general are not even our problem. Because the North as I know it is very big. Our problem is simply that Northern tribe called the HAUSA/FULANI! This is the very tribe marginalising other tribes with brute force. They usually mess with the Yorubas and go scot free. But anytime they try it with the Igbos, they receive it very hot! Recent happenings in Aba is an explanation of how the Igbos respond when you bring the war to their compund. You can't just kill an Igbo man like that and expect to go scot free. Its like a Palestinian killing a Jew and expection to go free! The Hausa/Fulani are aware of one Igbo blessing of which they are trying hard to convert to a curse. That God given blessing to us that we call IGBO AMAEZE! (Igbos don't know a king)!.... Its not really as if we are not united or don't have leaders as they try to paint us in the media. Its not as if the Igbos have internal wranglings amongst us as they usually claim. Its just that naturally, THE IGBOS HAVE ALWAYS SEEN EVERY MAN AS A KING IN HIS OWN HOUSE FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL! No True Igbo man likes being ruled! That is why you can go to a state like Imo state and have more than 100 traditional rulers! 2 Likes |

Igbos have achieved and continue to achieve much both seen and unseen. Politically, we need to arrive at a decision and pursue it doggedly and determinedly. It is time for individualism to take a back seat to collective assertion. It is indeed possible and doable. What is needed among other things is a figure or group of persons the majority of Igbos can vouch for. Because we are a very critical people, anyone that can gain collective acceptance and support will be more easily accepted on a more inclusive and even national level. Joe Igbokwe, because he happens to be an APC spawn ought not to forget his roots. Blood and tribe should and do supersede political affiliations so when the Igbos agitate for regionalism or separation whilst still demanding fairness in distribution of portfolios whilst not sacrificing competence, he should be able to see that. No matter the political leanings of a particular person or people, provided they are still part of an entity then they ought to be represented accordingly and not vilified. He ought to be fighting for the inclusion of Igbos at all levels and thus encourage better reception and acceptance of the APC in the SE, not attempting hold up himself as a saint or the wiser one to the exclusion of the same people he identifies with by reason of his origin and calling them names for seeking for what ought to be theirs. 2 Likes |

kenny987: My sister, there is no way we can put individualism to the back seat. Individualism is a God given talent to the Igbo nation and we can't do without it. Individualism is what makes competition so real in Igbo Land that you see our brethren who can't compete migrating to many parts of the world to try it out there. Though it can be argued that individualism is not the best stance in a mundane country like Nigeria where politics of rancour is played, Individualism will play a big role in BIAFRA. A state that will be as free as the Air like the united states of America. 2 Likes |

Chiaka: Dearest, the South South is always welcome to join the Igbos. If you were observant, you will notice that I purposefully ignored mentioning the South South. My reason is this: Some myopic yorubas usually think that what the Igbos are interested in is the oil in the South South. But the forgot that Anambra and Imo has oil. Even Enugu has oil. Even Abia has oil. But some of these oil wells are not known or mentioned because they are being preserved for the future. Oil aside, Igbo land is well blessed in Business and Agriculture. We are also learned and ahve the man power to build a military should the need arise. 4 Likes |

They have sent out joe igbokwe their lap dog to insult igbos but nothing new here. He has been doing it since the days of fasholas administration. Why dont we start by asking can the hausa-fulani play opposition. We saw how 800+ people were slaughtered including igbos, yorubas and Middle belt after GEJ won in 2011. No one has been arrested and the instigator of the massacre is now our president. I guess thats how to play opposition. Does he think its coincedence that boko Haram started suicide bombing few months after GEJ became president. A traitor will always be a traitor even if they tattoo IGBO to their chest. 4 Likes |

exxell: It is a great talent/gift and there is no disputing that. Still, the same individualism will make it almost impossible to achieve BIAFRA. We have to agree and fight for something and unlike the herd-mentality prevalent in some areas, we need to be convinced and be ready to be convinced too. That is where a temporal relegation of individualism comes to play until that which is sought is achieved. 3 Likes |

kenny987: Oh dearest, I now understand you. You are absolutely right. As far as Biafra is concerned, we are going to put heads together and achieve it. I even thought you were mentioning individualism because you expected the Igbos to put heads together and compete with other Nigerians in this cesspit called Nigeria. Truth be told, the Igbos are united. They may appear not to be participating in Nigeria politics or that they are not good political tacticians as they always try to paint us in the media. I can authoritatively tell you that the reason why they don't participate actively is because they don't believe in the Nigerian dreams. A Nigeria where everybody is not given equal playing ground. A Nigeria where a particular tribe called the Hausa/fulani feels they can get ti the top not through competition but bey selection and favouritism. But let me also remind you that When matters concerning regional security arises, you see them coming together. An example is the recent Transfer saga of Boko Haram prisoners down to the South East which was opposed vehemently. 1 Like |

Igbo people never learn. U just had ur axx handed to u in a general election. Now like joe igbokwe said, for the first time u are in the opposition. Instead of going back to the drawing board to pick up the pieces of the shattered umbrella that was the PDP. U go around nairaland creating threads for u and ur ethnic groups to unite, pushing insolvent ambitions like biafra. The funny contradiction is ur political leaders, they are busy grovelling in Abuja looking for crumbs. I can't count the Number of Red-capped 'Elder' unions that have visited buhari or offered him advise or congratulate him. Igbo please learn, do not bury your heads in the sand of biafra like the ostrich while Nigeria trudges on |

kenny091: My dear, we have never believed in the Nigerian dream. The Igbo youths coming up now are coming in hot. We don't blame The so called red cap chiefs you saw at Abuja... If you truly saw them. They are probably the ones with a battered up psyche due to the effects of the war. They are prolly looking for some help or something which I still doubt. We never saw a war and we are willing to see one if need be! As for your shattered umbrella thingy, let me remind you that I am from Anambra and APGA is our identity. We have never believed in anything that is not pro Igbo or Pro Biafra. This alone destroys your argument of me believing in the umbrella. We are not going to go back to any drawing board because nothing was ever in place before. We are still trying to put something in place and God willing, it will come to pass no matter how long it takes! 4 Likes |

LET ME ALSO USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE MAN OF THE MOMENT AND THE CHAMPION OF DEMOCRACY: GOOD LUCK EBELE JONATHAN! You may be clueless as they termed you. Admittedly, your government condoned corruption because the powers that be will never allow you fight that corruption. But let me state categorically that we the Igbo nation will never hate you. No matter how hard they try to sell Buhari to us and make us hate you, you will always have our undying love for this reasons; (1) YOU GAVE EVERY NIGERIAN AN OPPORTUNITY IN YOUR GOVERNMENT TO PROVE THEMSELVES WHICH THIS PARTICULAR GOVERNMENT IS YET TO DO AS REGARDS FEDERAL CHARACTER BECAUSE FOR THEM; ALL NON CORRUPT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS COME FROM THE NORTH! (2) YOU GAVE IGBOLAND ITS FIRST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. NOW, WE DON'T HAVE TO TRAVEL DOWN TO LAGOS TO GO TO ETHIOPIA! (3)YOU GAVE OJUKWU A STATE BURIAL WHICH I DOUBT THIS PARTICULAR GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE DONE. THANKS FOR THAT. WE LOVE YOU JONATHAN! (4) FINALLY, YOU FINALISED THE MOVE TO REMOVE THE EMBARGO PLACED ON IGBO GOODS AT THE WHARF AND SEA PORT THEREBY MAKING LIFE EASIER FOR THE IGBOS EVEN WHEN THAT YORUBA MAN CALLED OBASANJO TRIED TO STIFLE OUR BUSINESSES BY PLACING AN EMBARGO ON OUR GOODS AND ESPECIALLY THAT OF IBETO SO THAT DANGOTE CAN RISE TO THE TOP UNCHALLENGED! 3 Likes |

History 601 -- In 1964 the World Bank named Eastern Nigeria the fastest growing regional economy on earth. At the time of this assessment, Eastern Nigeria was made up of the present five states of the South East, plus four out of the present six states of the South South. Reason for the assessment was that in 1964, Nigeria was the world’s largest producer and exporter of palm oil and palm kernel. Above 90 per cent of the palm oil and palm kernel came from Eastern Nigeria. Nigeria was the world’s largest producer of cassava. Above 60 per cent of Nigeria’s cassava was produced in Eastern Nigeria. By 1964, garri, yam and palm oil from Eastern Nigeria were sold in South Africa, Great Britain and the United States. Coal mining had reached commercial production and Eastern Nigeria had started making money from Nigeria’s coal export. By 1964 the Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation (ENDC) was Eastern Nigeria’s next highest employer of labour after the regional government itself; producing high quality garri, rice, vegetable oil, fresh eggs, frozen fish, frozen chicken, frozen beef, frozen pork and pork sausages, for domestic distribution and export. -- Read it again, this was before crude oil so all the non Igbo speaking parts of the then Eastern Region that believe the Igbos need your oil should understand that our people were on the world map as regards economic development before crude oil. Yet, crude oil was first found in places like present day Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra and of course Imo and Abia about 40 years before oil was discovered in present day Bayelsa state. So, if without crude oil the Igbos could achieve this record what makes you think they won't achieve more with the crude oil in Igbo land? Did you notice what they said concerning coal? The coal in Enugu will banish darkness and provide 24hrs electricity in the entire region. Over 40% of the electricity being generated in the US come from coal fired power plants. Common sense should tell you that what you have in Enugu can provide constant electricity to the entire country if need be. 2 Likes |

Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta, Obigbo.... Come together lets discuss. Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Calabar etc can join if they wish. It is not by compulsion. They can form the republic of the Niger Delta if they so wish. But let them always remember that the marginalization also includes them coz the North sees the South South as a place where they can come and feed from the oil of that nation without any visible compensation or development. Your son Jonathan "failed" because they programmed him to fail... Thats the truth. 1 Like |

Chineke ekwela ihe ojoo. Mix my blood with an Hausa woman or Yoruba woman? May I drop dead the day I think about it or do it. Even typing it makes me shuder... I AM IGBO TOTHE CORE BRO. Same way Igbos have business in Ghana and South Africa is same way way Igbos have businesses in Nigeria. Personally, all my business are in Biafra. Am not stupid to establish in another country especially Nigeria. Experience have always shown what Nigerians can do especially when irked on religious issue... example is when Mohamed was depicted as a pedophilia in another country through cartoons.
