Liverpool forward Jordon Ibe, has indicated he would
be interested in playing for the Super Eagles.
The 19-year-old has represented England at different
age-level competitions, but is eligible to represent
Nigeria.


New Eagles boss, Sunday Oliseh, met with Ibe on
Monday and it is believed that the discussions went
well, although the player will not be ready to switch
allegiance until 2016.


“Ibe hasn’t committed to Nigeria yet but discussions
with him were positive because of his acceptance to
meet with the crew that visited him,” a source told Goal.
“But he won’t be ready to feature for the Eagles against
Tanzania this year because of the process that entails
his switch but he could be ready next year”.
This week, Oliseh made it clear that he was willing to
give players of Nigerian heritage, a chance to play for
the national team.


“You can bet your money that I’m looking at players
with Nigerian heritage who have been born or brought
up in other countries, I have no choice,” he told BBC
Sport.


“Most of these players, let’s be honest, very few of them
get to play in other nations for a long time, whereas
with Nigeria, these players have the chance regularly, if
they are good, to play in the World Cup.


“It’s definitely something we are looking at and we’ve
started making moves.


“They are welcome with open arms and we’ll do all we
can to put them in the best situation if they decide to
play for Nigeria because Nigeria needs them and they
also need Nigeria to become top, world class players”.
