We live in a country where a pair of Beverly Osu and Uti Nwachukwu get more recognition than an accomplished Scholar like Professor Andrew Bello Nok of ABU Zaria.
Now, let's Compare both parties. The former simply won 'Big brother Africa' after a few days of going virtually nude and acting soft porn live on TV and carted home about 300,000 USD [almost 50millon] in the process, While the latter made a giant trail blazing and ground breaking land mark
achievement in his research that earned him the 2013 German Alexander Humboldt Prize, for finding a cure for Trypanosomiasis.

Now tell me, why are we still wasting our precious time going to school??
Just thinking... happy weekend.

Go on and bash me, it's expected.

For whatever reason our society has decided to rely heavily on media and especially, celebrities. I personally believe people are far too obsessed with celebrities. Celebrities are common people, no different than anyone else in the population.
They are always shown having the perfect body and you never really see what happens behind the scenes. The media keeps feeding the people such ignorance cos it sells.. Most teenagers can't even mention 10 academia, but ask them anything about wizkid or olamide.... Even some ignorant adult are guilty of this, now tell me what such adults will teach their children. That is why when i see some comments here in Nairaland...Never mind.
