Evathyst: It's so sad that you've allowed silly ethnic politics to blind and pollute your mind. Somebody like Amos Adamu can do the job but he is tainted. Orji Uzor Kalu can do it. Another Nigerian I would nominate and vote for if I'm privileged is Kojo Williams. Under a transparent and an enabling environment, these guys would get the job done. |

Chosen1984: Take away tribalism and a bit of corruption, there are lots of Nigerian politicians/administrators who would do the job and do it well. Nigerian police force is rubbish at home but they always win accolades when they go on international peace corps. Okonjo iweala was a success at the world bank but messed up at home. Arumma Oteh was disgraced out of office but she would surely do well at the world stage. I can go on and on. Their problem is not knowing what to do but the Nigerian political environment is a different ball game. These guys would perform at the world stage. I would bet my money on Mr Kalu to do well if he ever get there and I mean and believe everything I wrote here. Being a governor in Nigeria is much more difficult than that FIFA presidency office. 1 Like |

If OUK listened to our mockery and followed our mentality of low self esteems; he wouldn't have attained the height he is in now. 1. Dude was laughed at when he led a student protest as a student leader. But instead of listening to us, he started selling Pam oil that gave him his first million. 2. We laughed at him when he wanted to contest for election in 1999 cos he doesn't have a degree, he went ahead, won and ruled us for uninterrupted 8 years. 3. We laughed at him when he got admission into ABSU while he was still Governor. Today, the mo'fucker is a PhD holder while some of us are still with our worthless bsc. 4. We laughed at him when he boasted that he will make Enyimba the pride of Africa. We were all alive to witness how enyimba dominated like a true elephant. 5. We laughed at him when he launched sun newspapers few years ago. Today, sun newspapers is one of the leading dailies in Africa. Today, we are laughing at him for making an attempt to put black men and Nigeria on the map of world football. Does it mean we haven't leant how ouk, dangote, adenuga and even Buhari became successful. Resilience in the face of mockery. I've never been a fan of ouk. I'm very hopeful that someday he will have to account for his excesses when he was a governor. But that's totally a different issue from this. I'm also hoping this mockery has nothing to do with the Nigerian ethnic divide otherwise what does it even take to be a FIFA President? Tribalism in Nigeria is worse than Apartheid in South Africa. Imagine some sections of South Africa kick against hosting of the World Cup in Africa for the first time. |

only kids will ask ''wetin Kalu know about football'' to start with he was a footballer. he made Enyimba the biggest club in Africa during his time as the governor of Abia state, winning back to back Africa champions league 2003/2004 season which no Nigeria club has ever done since then. he brought foreign players to Enyimba cos of d good pay. enyimba even played club friendly with inter Milan. u cn Google more abt him if u want 1 Like |

Basically if you want to be FIFA President: You need to have one of the member association to nominate you as a candidate before the opening date of Congress. You need to win the election at FIFA Congress. Of course, to win the election you need to lobby a lot of association members so that they will vote for you. For example, FIFA President from 1974 - 1998, João Havelange visited 86 countries prior to his FIFA Presidency. Before that you need to be a quite influential figure before you will be nominated as FIFA President Candidate. Joao Havelange was CBF (Brazilian FA) President and Sepp Blatter was the General Secretary of FIFA before they become FIFA President. For the next election, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, current FIFA Vice President has been tipped to challenge Blatter. If you really want to become president of FIFA, I think you need to have influential position in soccer or sports in general, and it would take some time to get to that influential position. Sepp Blatter has been working 23 years - from 1975 as a Technical Director - before he could become president FIFA in 1998. 2 Likes |

Who has bewitched the Nigeria youth of this generation with so much negative attitude and lack of self esteem that people dreaming and doing big things is utopian to them? I'm really disappointed to read most of the rather infantile comments on this thread making mockery of the ambition of a man who ranks as one of the few mortals on earth with over a billion Dollars networth. Something that their 10 generations both gone and unborn can only struggle to even dream of because from the way they are sounding, becoming FIFA president is even too big a dream for them. I think Nairaland should not only create kiddies section but also introduce age restrictions to certain level of topics, like this one. Children should be restricted to comment on topics within their level of apprehension like PS4 and such things, maybe passing UTME and WAEC.
