Aaondakaa and farida are not very good examples if you ask me.if want to pick people every Nigerian will admire dont start with people that have been labelled corrupt and unintelligent

That being said Tiv people are usually very nice

@ *Hauwa* yes i agree. they are beautiful pple with nice personality. friendly too. i have tiv friends. i love their pawpaw soup. i also love eating the long whitish egusi. there is the seedy egusi soup, you'd be eating moulded egusi in the soup, i love that with bushmeat. we used to end up eating the roasted egusi my friend's mom asked us to shell for her .
i love their folklore.

Ngusha, do you know the story of the hare that hid itself where the king's wife normal sit to make tuwo? the song goes like

pito wan kio, to wan kio to wan kio lol lol. the story was that the king was bragging no one could lay his wife. so funny story it has sexual something to it though.

i love your "oto gbaka' song do you know how to sing it?

sorry if i spelt something wrongly mu sugh

I LOVE YOUR POST SO MUCH. WAS JUST LAUGHING ALL THROUGH WHILE READING IT.

Am not a Tiv but I've got two as roommates. The only things they've succeeded in teaching me are One, tojoa, tocu, tosoa. Maybe I got the spellings wrong, forgive me if I did. One thing I know is that Tiv men can never be beaten when it comes to bedmatics. The women've got great Arse-enal and Man-chester-er. Lol. I think I need to learn more of Tiv

One thing I've observed about Ur people is that they have Inferiority complex and this also makes them adopt an aggressive disposition when they come in contact with other people. Once they see U they adopt the thinking dat U want to "use"(as one of them accused me) them. They also blindly defy correction even when its obvious they are wrong. An average Tiv man will never admit he's wrong even when his folly is apparent. What Ur people need is cognitive restructuring and reorientation. That is if the elite among them will let the rest see the light. My group went on an outing, I was 2 speak against corruption, I made reference about some governors and why we as youths should not copy them. D governor dat came back 2 dis country dressed like a woman and some others, d moment I talked about d man dat spent about 40bil to buy pigs, a teacher stood up openly to attack me verbally and received a counter by d students and other teachers. This is an incident dat even d fowls walking d streets of Benue heard about.I did not call names, I only said a "A certain governor in a certain state, "
How do U expect to be heard with this kind of mentality, msugh!

Unongu, congratulations. I can see that you have only one post but you spoke sensibly.  Your kind of post is what educates and brings out a peoples' grievance in a clear light. For this I appreciate you and I respect your personality.

What Nigeria needs is a group of sincere minds that can point out the problems with Nigeria and how to deal with them. Don't expect this to happen tomorrow. Nigerians are often drawn into joining the wrong bandwagon based on religion, ethnicity and sectional connections. The result is the rot we are witnessing today.

I won't address  any of the issues you mentioned affecting the Tiv people because you presented your case in a clear language.  I have respect for the Tiv race for many reasons. Twenty years ago I studied in Makurdi town and enjoyed the hospitality of the Tiv people. I praise the prowess, and intellectual acumen of the Tivs. I know they can do so much for Nigeria.

But listen. Nigeria is losing so much due to the aforementioned reasons. The Tivs are lucky they are remembered in this government. What do you think of minority tribes that are never reflected in the Nigerian discuss, forgotten and ridiculed? Nigeria is fighting senseless battles while the world is forging ahead and we are losing important personal contributions.

Nigeria can benefit from the mass of talents  of people 'being born from the wrong parts of Nigeria', yet we are losing and only God knows how much we have lost and how much we shall continue to lose.

As I write this [which I never intended to write more than two lines], I feel sorry for those who criticize others based on location of birth and yet cannot offer anything worthwhile when it comes to national development.  Those who have wretched Nigeria have come from the so-called major tribes.

Nigeria has come to believe that only them have the magic wand of moving Nigeria, yet we are nowhere. The pain is greater when you reflect how minorities ar neglected. I sympathetize with you but I know that the Tivs can do more for Nigeria like any other minority ethnic group.

Please don't be discouraged, "if a fish sleeps, another will eat it." Wake up and fight for your rights. You have just started a good cause.
Re: Tiv Forum by Nobody: 8:58am On Dec 17, 2009
@ mcnikes

Your argument is quite hypothetical and lacks generality. I spent 1yr Osun state 4 my youth service and I had so many terrible experiences, ranging from theft of corper wears, treats to life etc. That does not mean the whole Yoruba people are none receptive. On the contrary, I have spent close to 2yrs in Lagos and I have never had any bitter experience.

Nigerian mentality of territorial defensiveness is all over.  Didn’t the Ijaws exonerate the Governor who disparaged his status by disguising as a lady to evade justice from Europe? Individual or a sample of 10 people CAN never be a valid benchmark for a people of over 5.6 million. Think well before you blab. Anyway nice having peeps like you around. Ayatutu ka unor? KASE,

whats with all the copy and paste stuff, please spare us all the documentary. . . Too long to read anyway

its my understanding that a Tiv man usually presents his wife as kola to a friend visiting, as a sign of hospitality and also i learn t that the reason why Tiv girl are always hairy/Hot is because, in the early days, they usually have sex with monkeys, maybe in that monkey kingdom mentioned in one of these post , can't remember the name.

No disrespect to the Zakis grin

We are such a wonderful people with 1st degree tolerance, humility and hospitality which as unongo posted is why some people take us for a ride by insinuating all sorts of stories. For some of us that are widely travelled, we appreciate the uncommon qualities of a real Tiv man which is rarely found elsewhere. For our fans that are bold enough to appreciate us, I say Gbosaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
