Yarn is that expensive now? Here in Abuja, I get a pack of 16 in Wuse market for 1,600. It has nothing to do with dollar nah, the yarn is made in Kano. Crochet, embroidery and other fiber arts are part of the culture for Northerners, so maybe that's why its cheaper?

Lol @ yeye I actually tot u were reffering to rubbish kinda yeye.had to read ur post over to understand its a brand name cheesy pls were can I get d yeye yarn here in Benin too
@ mama ynnk et all pls were can One get elastic or stretchy yarn to buy in Our dear Naija
Re: My Crochet Fantasy by Ynnk(f): 8:40pm On Mar 08, 2016
@Tatacherie, use the yarn for making hair. It sort of shrinks and gives a small elastic feel.

Meanwhile, I am yet to see elastic yarn in Naija.

Another option is to buy the elastic thread used for smock dresses and double it with your yarn.

@Everyone. Hmmm, all this talk of rising yarn price and rising dollar.

The Kano one still remains N1600 for a pack of 16. You can even get it for less per pack if you are buying 2 or more packs.

Ordinarily, I select different colours to make up my pack of 16.

An elastic sewing thread is what's used in making smock dresses.(stretchy dress) ynnk idea is it cud b added to yarn while crocheting to make finished product stretchy

Wool for plaiting hair. The popular one has an orange label called Babby. You find them in shops where they sell weavon and attachment.

Then smock dresses are those ones that have more than one row of elastic gathers. Like the top part of the dress in the px.

The elastic thread used for such dresses can be obtained in an accessory shop.

Really need to get some good yarn. Anyone knows where to get? The issue I have with our local yarn is they come in one size, we really need to be creative in making our local yarn. #creativityrocks

Sharoniah, do you stay around Nyanya? I learnt there's a huge yarn shop at Mararaba market. I live in Karu and normally buy at Wuse, though they don't stock a variety of colours.

Hmmmmmmmm the yarn shop at Maraba is really huge, infact you'll find all sorts of colours there(saw 4 different green,3 different yellow, etc) but its N140 right now for one yarn, though the big size is N1500
