The youth always make their presence known. It's a marketable street slang used in places where the full country name is hard to pronounce. If you hear the French man call our country name and/or citizenship you'll think he means Niger Republic. It is also a word thrown around within a youth crowd. You hardly hear 54+ year olds use the term, however people of 6 - 44 years of age are familiar with and use it frequently. Think of how pidgin was used to communicate back in the day, consciously confusing the white colonialists. |
