@topic

When shall these Nigerian pastors Home and abroad learn how to separate God's work from business and politics.
The day they learn this, the day they will save us Christians from all these embarrassments and shame. Now tell me how the world can believe him that the investors lost their investment as a result of the economic crises,
Most of them dosnt realise how sensitive their post is as postors.
i dont know how i can say this to make meaning to you.  God is looking for the people who are not too "worldly smart" to show His power and strenght through.  it is that naivity if you call it that that attracts most of these pastors to Him in the first place.
unfortunately, majority of them live in a world that people can easily sell ideas they dont understand into them. does this look like the confident preaching pastors you see in pulpits of course not.  talking and preaching is just a 1hr thing and the smallest part of being a pastor.

it is common knowledge pastors are the most loneliest and vulnerable people. if you tot ministry was all glamour, think again.  i know it is easy not to pity them but imagine being the leader of a group of people like today's complicated people.

Why does this generation keep dissapointing we the younger generations?
if you dont want to be disappointed continually, follow Christ

I am of the opinion that Pastor Adelaja is innocent until proven guilty. We do not need to spend precious time crucifying a man that may very soon be declared innocent as a baby. On the other hand, I guess we gotta beat back our being quick to jump to the conclusion that it is a Christian-Muslim beef issue. There is freedom of expression everywhere, and if Christians choose not to post stuff about muslims - I believe it is because they are being more mature, LOL. Time will tell.

On the issue of the older generation disappointing the younger generation. The bible says for us to look up to Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2) , Man is liable to fall and disappoint you at anytime, so at everytime you gotta make sure you looking up to Jesus, and not man. LOL.

May the almighty God save us from our 'men of god'. But is this guy still in Ukraine?

Why do you need God to save you from men of God?

Huxley- When god called him to preach, did god not realise that he was going to go into banking and financial scamming. What sort of god is that if he did not know these things?

He is the same GOD that made you and gave you different chances to be who u r today. The same GOD that has being watching u even when you do somethings that are not good, and still gives you the chance of changing. That is the GOD we serve, if at every error/mistake we make HE wipes us away, do you think anyone of us will be alive right now? In the bible king David was a man after GOD's heart, he did some hurtful things (killed a man due to lust for his wife) but GOD saw his heart and knew him from his begining to the day he died.
Don't judge, what ever you use to judge others, the same measure will He use to judge you. We all don't know the full story, like many people, money has being lost in various ways, be it investing in real estate, stocks or what have you. If he or anyone decides to blame him, i'll think that you need to start from the very top- from the ones that control the market and come down the ladder. When there is famine in the land, it will affect everyone, only the ones that GOD has prepared, or that hold on to him will stand.

Yes, they lost their savings, most did and some are still going to, but the fact of the matter still remains that if he did what they said he did, GOD will surely deal with him in his own way, at his own time, NOT FOR US TO DEAL WITH him.

To all those that just think that Pastors are fakes- or 100% of them are fake, then i'm really sorry u feel that way. when you know the word of the Lord, and learn, meditate on it, you'll be able to discern any thing that is not of the Lord's, and reference the bible when situations arise. if what u hear is contrary to what is being taught, you know that's not what you want to stay with. Please know how you talk about the men/women of GOD, Moses Sister had a lesson when she went on talking about GOD's prophet, she got her reward. Watch your mouth about these people, and don't be rude, stupid or foolish. GOD might be patient, but you don't want to get him MAD!

Pastor Sunday Adelaja sets the record straight on Ukraine fraud charges story

Pastor Sunday Adelaja visits and prays with congregants children before a service in Sacramento, Calif. , on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007.
Dear Editor,

Greetings to you from the capital city of Ukraine.

This is Pastor Sunday Adelaja writing to you.

received your news article “Ukraine police charge Nigerian pastor of evangelical church”.

advertisement

I can honestly say that I’m disgusted and disturbed by this very false and inaccurate publication. What bothers me most of all is that you didn’t contact me first to find out the real story. Instead you grasped at pure lies and rumors that have no grounding whatsoever and created an article that is portrayed as true.

This is all a political witch-hunt that is going on here because of the social and political influence that our church and members hold.

I had actually heard that the Head of Police had made another political statement but this will keep going on from time to time, because the Head of Police – who made these false allegations - is also the political opposition of a prominent member of our church, Leonid Chernovetskiy, the mayor of Kiev.

In your article one can see that the case you are making against me is not only weak but totally groundless. So, let us take a look at the article:

"The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has accused him of defrauding citizens of money, the ministry’s Department for Media Liaison and International Activity said. Sunday Champion gathered that the amount is over $100m."
- Meanwhile this very same congregation that I am supposed to have “defrauded of millions” is praying against everything that is going on.

"Some speculated that Adelaja, a native of Nigeria, invested funds from King’s Capital in the African bank and planned to leave the country."
- You cannot produce any accounts like this because there is no such account and no bank will be able to confirm this.

"He was not a president of this company, but he was the No. 1 spiritual leader, and he told them what they have to do," said Bishop M. S.Panochko, leader of the All-Ukrainian Union of Pentecostal Churches of Evangelical Faith, which is comprised of 1,500 churches across the nation. "He can do everything to tell them that he is not involved, but all the leaders have a lot of facts, and we have a lot of video of when he was pushing people, and he encouraged people to invest in this business."
- Please find in attachment transcribed video footage that clearly states and proves that I in fact advised people against investing in the company King’s Capital.

Your whole article is phony and politically motivated, and there is nothing new in it, in fact it is the very same thing that was written before. Propagated articles like yours will keep coming again and again.

There are no infringements against me - I am at home as I write this letter.

I preach at church, travel as I want and we are preparing for our 15th church anniversary coming up soon.

Our opposition is trying to raise noise before our anniversary, which takes place in 2 weeks time.

From our end everything is under control and as far as the law goes: everyone remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This has not been done. These are just allegations which we are looking forward to proving wrong.

Yours respectfully,
Pastor Sunday Adelaja

Some of you dont seem to know the kind of causes you attract on yourself when you speak against some people, Pastors are human and are prone to mistake, But be careful how you cast stone on them(i.e if you most cast stone).

I cannot justify any man but what i'll advice everyone to do is to fold you hands and watch as the truth unfolds. Wonder how many of you hav seen the news below aswell

TRUTH REVEALED!

Greetings in the name of our loving Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ!

First of all, we would like to thank all those who have been supportive of Pastor Sunday Adelaja with regards to the false allegations made against him and the defamation of his character.

There have been some prominent pastors who started making false accusations against Pastor Sunday Adelaja and his supposed involvement with the investment company, King’s Capital. However, these charges have been groundless from the start, and soon after the downfall of the company the founders of King’s Capital released an official statement saying:

"Also we declare that rumors about any relation to "Kings Capital", Pastor Sunday Adelaja and Kiev mayor, Leonid Chernovetsky, are not true. Neither Pastor Sunday nor Mr. Chernovetsky, nor anyone else, (except for the founders and directors of the business), have had direct or indirect participation in the managing or activity of the business. They have never received any income of material, or non-material values from the business".

Please find the complete official statement at: http://www.godembassy.org/en/news/news_publ.php?showdetail=3727

One of the prominent pastors, Pastor Rick Renner (Good News Church) - who was the first to start making these empty claims - has also been the first to apologize. This proves that God is faithful to vindicate and justify the righteous.

"I am very sorry if my words offended members of the Embassy of God Church", says Rick Renner. "Believe me: I did not have such intentions and purposes. We like the Embassy of God Church, and its investments in the establishing of the Kingdom of God in Kiev deserve respect. The role of this church in the city life is very valuable and we pray for its confident future."

Pastor Rick Renner continues: "I have known Pastor Sunday for more than one year and love and respect him. I would like him and the members of his church to know that we pray for them. We also pray that the church would go through the difficult times as soon as possible. I ask God to cover us with His mercy and always hope that God will reveal His mercy and extend His cover upon over lives. There is none perfect among us - we all make mistakes. I want to close with these words, that God’s mercy may overcome any difficulties, recover and heal us. The blood of Jesus is covering everything which I am really thankful to God for".

Pastor Rick Renner is also planning to apologize in person to Pastor Sunday for his false accusations against him and the Embassy of God church.

Without cross checking the facts many harmful things have been splurged across newspapers, television, radio, magazines and the internet. How will these media houses respond now that the truth has started coming to the forefront? Will they have the integrity to make an apology of the same magnitude and publicity? Will they begin publicizing the true information?

We do not fear, because God is in control. The Bible says, "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall hold them in derision." - Psalm 2:4

He is our Justifier!

Pastor Sunday has also made a public response to the charges from some of the bishops of Ukraine.

"From my side I gave a complete explanation and presented full reasoning for every question. I feel it is unfair to give only one-sided information about that meeting without my answers", said Pastor Sunday.

Thank you for your prayers, and please continue praying so that God will totally vindicate Pastor Sunday Adelaja and furthermore lead the church to a new level of influence.

May God’s name be lifted high and may He grant you the desires of your heart in 2009!

Yours in HIM,

If all these so called pastors who proclaim the name of Jesus Christ can truely emulate and act one millionth of the way Christ lived his life - all these disgraceful and disempowering stories would not emerge.  Majority of these so called pastors and self anointed Bishops are not truely serving God and people should know that.   They are there for their own greedy exploitations and I don't blame them - I blame those who support and keep their ministries going by tithings/donations.  Those who support such ministries are as condemned as the preachers themselves because without your tithings/donations, they wouldn't have legs to stand and many of them would still remain unemployed and hopeless.  Keep feeding them and that's why they are investing your money very well in Europe.  Please, find a God fearing ministry and put your money in it.  Those ministries that preaches - money and, wealth you should avoid.  Remember, they spend your money on expensive cars and luxurious homes etc but Christ never had a luxurious home - he was brought up in a poverty sticken home with many brothers and sisters, he never drove a car - he rode a donkey.lol!!!  He never wore proper shoes on his feet - he wore Jesus sandals ask anyone.  But check out the so called pastors and Bishops - it takes an idiot to see what they are doing with your money.  Keep giving them your hard earned money and its for them to live like kings, idiots!  Use your brains!  Don't get me wrong, it is good to tithe and donate money for good causes but research has showned that only a small amount of money is used for Gods work and the rest?  I wonder!   Now, go and read Corintians (all of it) it says 'Give generously and, give as you are capable of giving'.  It did not say you should give 10% of your income which many of these churches are always shouting about in order to suck you dry rather, you should give the best you can and if your have the 10%, you can also give because you have it - not when you don't have it , what matters is that you give at least something.  Please, please, and please don't let these wolves pastors and Bishops brainwash and emotionally abuse you by making you feel guilty when you fail to give.  Please don't let them, instead leave their church and find another one - as you can see there are millions of churches about these days which suggests to anyone ignorant of what is happening in churches - that churches these days are money making machines. If you doubt me just set up your own church now and before December, you'd be a millonaire and driving your own luxury car, I bet you.lol!!!!  I have no sympathy for those crookes who use the name of God to exploit vulnerable people because there can't be a smoke without fire besides, there's a proverb that says 'Where a child is crying and pointing his/her finger at - if his/her mother's head is not there, his/her father's head is'.  I know we are all humans but when a human set out to preach in the  name of Jesus Christ - the holliest name in  heaven and earth, he/she should at least act holy and many of these Bishops and pastors in Europe and America have been found wanting on financial malpractices/irregularities and fined or imprisoned so, how can they justify their behaviours and gain our respect, I wonder.

It's a big shame that people jump to post stories like these about Nigerians especially pastors.
I am not a pastor and I actually do not have any intention/ambition of becoming one. Also I do not know this guy in Ukraine, but what the hell is the matter with people when they pick up bits and pieces of info in far away places and the next thing is to post them as a topic over forums like this and then people start posting unfounded contributions.

This man has been doing his thing and living his life quietly and successfully in Ukraine all this while before this issue, no one bothered to find out his history/pedigree, no one wrote about the goods he's done in the past. But immediately news such as this breaks out, then the next thing is that every Tom Dick and Harry, starved of correct information, now wants to be seen as also contributing.

Honestly this nairaland thing should be scrapped. It's just a forum for dissemminating incorrect, unfounded untruths. What a shame!

Deputy of the Head of Administration of the President of Ukraine Igor Popov is disturbed at the Minister of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko’s actions against Sunday Adelaja

What will Lutsenko choose: politics or law?

4th, May a deputy of the Head of Administration of the President of Ukraine, Igor Popov, held a chat-conference on Internet resource “Glavred”.

He answered to numerous issues of the day related to today’s political processes in Ukraine. One of the questions was about the senior pastor of the Christian church “Embassy of God”, Sunday Adelaja, and about public charges of the Minister of Interior Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko against Sunday Adelaja. Igor Popov’s answer was the following:

"I am neither a judge nor a politician. That is why I do not accuse people without having sufficient information and court’s decision. Unfortunately, representatives of some law enforcement bodies use their status for political struggle. Instead of pursuing criminals they speak in mass media.”

Let us mention that accusing an honest and world-respected pastor with fraud, the minister Yuriy Lutsenko broke the main Law of Ukraine, which is the Constitution of Ukraine. Particularly, article 62 of the Constitution prohibiting accusing a man without proving his guilt in court was broken.

"Unfortunately, in most cases such statements are not resulted in any other steps to punish the guilty", - deputy of the Head of Administration of the President of Ukraine, Igor Popov, added.

Indeed, the like official violations have become a practice of some Ukrainian politicians. However, these violations of law enforcement bodies can be equated with a crime, because mentioned agencies are to protect the law and the nation.

These events show that Ukrainian society cannot come back to the past. There is no place in politics for officials who ignore the principles of democracy.
We would like to believe that the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushchenko, as a guarantor of the Constitution will react to the actions of the minister Yuriy Lutsenko against pastor Sunday Adelaja in order to avoid the like violations against citizens of Ukraine and guests of our country.

There are groundless public declarations made by the Minister of Internal Affairs, J. Luzhenko, which have occurred in Mass Media for the last several months. J.Luzhenko dared to slander the Senior Pastor of the Embassy of God church accusing him in criminal involvement and activity of the financial company King’s Capital, accusing him in the fraud specified in paragraph 3, article 37 and paragraph 4, article 190 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Thereby he broke the Law of Ukraine as presumption of innocence is valid in our country until judgment in court, which means that a person is considered not guilty or innocent until the court decision of guilt.

Sunday Adelaja personally objects all charges, declaring that he has nothing to do with the building, activity, and administration of King’s Capital. He considers it as the political strategy of some politicians whose path he has crossed not once.

Recently political scientist Olexandr Doniy, the deputy of the Parliament’s group "Our Ukraine is the National self-defense" in hard talk said: "Logically it is not worthwhile for the pastor of the most influential church (per se timeless project) to risk his authority getting involved in a financial pyramid (its quick and huge profits end up by escape of the founders or general managers)".

Olexandr Doniy, who is from the same party as J.Luzhenko, declared that he did not see any documents proving accusations of Sunday Adelaja, and he also added that personally Pastor Sunday Adelaja with his members of the church have the right to find out in the Ministry of Internal Affairs on what actual grounds afore mentioned accusations are brought. As experience shows (the case of Boris Kolesnikov) in most cases such accusations are not proved. In 2004 the Ministry of Internal Affairs with J.Luzhenko incriminated to Boris Kolesnikov acquisition with shares extortion of the business center "White Swan" (Beluy Lebed). The politician spent several months in pre-trial prison. As a result lawyers strived for a discharge of Boris Kolesnikov closing of the criminal case in the absence of crime in the act.

History of the Ukrainian justice shows that criminal cases widely spread by politicians through Mass Media at the beginning and often during the prejudicial inquiry were closed even without court. So it is possible to forecast that this criminal case incriminated by mister J.Luzhenko against pastor Sunday Adelaja will not be proved legally in court.

Sviatoslav Piskun: Lutsenko has broken the Constitution in case of pastor Sunday Adelaja

April, 29, the press-conference on the topic: "Law is one for everyone!” was held by the General prosecutor, national deputy of Ukraine Sviatoslav Piskun.

The previous General public prosecutor of Ukraine expressed his position as to the absurd accusations addressed to pastor Sunday Adelaja by the main policeman of country.

It is known that the minister of internal affairs of Ukraine – Juriy Lutsenko publicly imputed a crime to the senior pastor of the God’s Embassy Church, which was unproved, baseless and illegal as the Constitution of Ukraine provides presumption of innocence before a court’s sentence.

Sviatoslav Piskun strongly objects the accusation, which was brought against pastor Sunday and declared: "We cannot talk about the issue of the pastor without adducing any proof. Moreover I consider the fact that many politicians getting to the TV point at him saying "He is villain” is wrong. It is a straight violation of the Constitution, in which it is written that until guilt is proved in the court (even not during the investigation, but in the court) no one can be recognized as guilty”.

"After all where was this practice taken from? It seems to me that this practice came from 2004, when everyone came out to Maidan and said: "Prison to bandits!” So who are those bandits? They are whoever we point at…” – Mr. Piskun added.

First of all before you name someone a villain, you should prove their guilt. Having received the position of the Minister of Internal Affairs and after all revolution slogans Juriy Lutsenko opened numerous criminal cases, though many of them were not taken to the court, because they were not confirmed in pre-judicial investigation.

There was no court’s sentence for pastor Sunday, but the populist declarations of Mr. Lutsenko are deceiving Ukraine. The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine makes Ukrainian nation lose faith in the power of law and equality of everyone, including officials before the Law.

The General persecutor of Ukraine considers all actions of Lutsenko to be a violation of the Main Law – The Constitution, but the current General persecutor O. Medved’ko does not react to illegal accusations against pastor Sunday accordingly to his responsibilities, and that shows that some internal institutions and certain politicians are joined against the pastor and are not interested in finding the truth in this case.

However it is the Minister of Internal Affairs Juriy Lutsenko who should answer for his consciously planed illegal actions against pastor Sunday Adelaja. Satisfaction has not been abolished in Justice yet.
