Hafr Al-Batin city in the Eastern
Province woke up to a rare incident of
forgiveness on Wednesday. Baddah bin Rashid
Al-Sahli chose to forgive his son’s killer only a
short time before the sentence of execution
was due to be carried out.
Al-Sahli, whose exemplary action received
widespread appreciation, said he forgave the
killer for God’s sake only, local media reported
on Thursday.
Four years ago, Al-Sahli’s son, Mufreh, was
stabbed to death by Fahd bin Mashari Al-Barazi
following a quarrel. Fahd was sentenced to
death and despite efforts at mediation, no
agreement to spare the killer’s life was
reached. The family of the victim refused blood
money (diyah), even though the parents of the
killer were ready to pay millions.
On the day of execution, a group of men from
the local mosque made one final attempt at
mediation. After the dawn prayer, they paid a
visit to the victim’s father and asked him to
spare the killer’s life. The father was moved to
forgive the killer and thus projected an
excellent image of forgiveness and compassion.
Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif
called Al-Sahli and commended his noble action
in forgiving his son’s killer.
Very soon after, social media sites circulated
the news applauding the noble attitude and
rare behavior. Large numbers of Hafr Al-Batin
citizens, led by Mayor Abdul Mohsin Al-
Otaishan, visited the father’s house to thank
him in person for his noble act.
The citizens of Hafr Al-Batin, in a gesture of
gratitude for his noble act, honored him,
referring to the increasing phenomena of
demanding large amounts of money,
sometimes as much as SR50 million.

Panshow: This is rare in the muslim world because mohammed actuaLly encourages retaliation or payments in "cash/Gold". Quran 2.178: "O you who believe! retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the slain, the free for the free, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female, but if any remission is made to any one by his (aggrieved) brother, then prosecution (for the bloodwit) should be made according to usage, and payment should be made to him in a good manner; this is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy; so whoever exceeds the limit after this he shall have a painful chastisement." |

But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. Because you actually acted shocked that islam encourages people to be punished for killing another. have you heard of someone who killed anothers and let off by the law. the sentences in most countries either they are sentenced to life imprisonment or sentenced to death. Islam then goes further by saying the family of the murdered can decide to pardon the guilty person,if they do,he should make some payment and they admonish the person and make follow up to make sure this person changes for thier evil ways. Is islam not also encouraging people to pardon as well. This is exactly what this man did followed the second principle inorder to spare his sons killer's life. How many can do this? The first Principle about retaliation is just normal. Everyone wants to get justice for thier loved ones and to also prevent it from happening. Doesn't mean islam is evil. parisbookaddict:Can you mention any country law that pardon a killer or a criminal? Even the Jewish law doesn't pardon criminals and Jesus in the bible supported the Jewish laws, told the people to follow the laws. And don't quote where he spared a woman life. 2 Likes |
