Mautech Yola Graduates 12,600 Students, 29 First Class In 3years by Emelcee: 2:17pm On Aug 15, 2015

The Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola (MAUTECH) has graduated a total of 12,600 students for the 2010/2011, 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions accordingly.

Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Kyari Muhammed disclosed the development at a press conference to commence the University’s 18th, 19th and 20th convocation ceremony billed for Saturday stressing that, the students have successfully completed their approved course of studies.

“And have been found worthy of character and learning to be awarded Certificates, Diploma, Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees respectively from this University (MAUTECH)”

Professor Muhammed explained that, 8401 got first degrees, 3415 diplomas and 777 higher degrees including 187 post graduate diplomas, 525 master degrees and 65 Ph.Ds.

He also revealed that four imminent Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves by impacting on other people’s lives positively and made the country and people proud by their exemplary conduct, will be awarded honorary doctor degrees by the institution.

According to him, those to be honored includes; immediate past Chairman Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, Former National president of Nigeria Labour congress, NLC, Comrade Ali Chiroma, the Pioneer Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Ethelbert Nwakuche Chukwu and paramount ruler Obot Akara in Akwa Ibon State, His majesty, Okuku Uwa Umoh Adiaka III, Ekpeiko I respectively.

“We are honouring them for self-less service, principled leadership, honesty, good character and institution building”. He stated.

The Vice Chancellor also disclosed that, the University will soon unveil a Student Support Scheme to help indigent students continue the pursuit of education in the institution.

He noted that the scheme tagged MAUTECH Students Support Scheme was aimed at providing succor to the vulnerable and weak among the students who may drop out of school as a result of death of finances.

It was noted that only 29 lucky students graduated with a first class degree in 3 years.
