It is often said that Albert Einstein failed math in school. The Albert Einstein math failure rumor began in an article that Ripley's Believe it or Not! published while he was still alive,
and Einstein found it humorous considering he far exceeded all expectations and school standards.

The Ripley's headline read, "Greatest living mathematician failed in mathematics" to which Einstein himself responded with a laugh and said, "I never failed in mathematics. Before I was fifteen I had mastered differential and integral calculus."

On his summer breaks Einstein would advance as much as two class years by teaching himself. He would not only teach
himself formulas, but he would attempt to prove them on his own, and even invent his own methods of solving
complex problems.
