Builders and professionals in the house.
Please can you provide steps on how best to water proof cement/ concrete. Which is best the liquid or powder chemicals.
Is this good for decking and pillars. I've been seeing some nice constructions around town that seems to use waterproofed concrete.

Thank you Hajji.

I am new to this but I believe that is it.
I would like to know if its safe for use in deckings, plaster, german floors ?
Where can we source it from (open market sources please) prices, which is better, the liquid or powder types.
How do we use it : do we just mix with concrete mixture or does it require special concrete mixes.
if the decking or walls are always leaking will this curb it.

The above was used for my Soak-away and german floor. I don't know if it can be used for decking.
You can get it anywhere they sell cement... my bricklayer bought it. It's like a cement, it will just be mix with
with the regular cement. it's a small bag... but I am sure they have bigger bag too... Look around.
If your decking is done very well it should not be leaking... if your decking is leaking already then you should
look for some other adhesive to seal the cracks.
That small bag (1kg) above is only N500 per bag and I used 10 bags for the soak-away of about 12ftx10ft.
I can't remember how many bags we used for the german floor..

is it economical for large scale work .
I intend using for little wall plastering but would like to know how many bags would be required to large concrete mixes.
Please I really need all the professional opinions we can get.

Is there a best brand or are they all the same

I wish I can help you professionally... may be some professionals will join the thread.
But I have explained to you how I have used mine above... many people just use it for soak-away so it does not leak.
May there are more brands, I don't know; that is what my contractor bought and used.

Sorry to ask.why would you want to use it on a wall as against flooring where water seeping is perceived?

I was told sometimes that its good for the house wall cements/blocks to breath... so not sure how true this is.

Hmmm thats food for thought, but I would not think so though cos i recon if one has a good mix ratio and proper DPM< you wont need to worry about all that.

Sir,

Did you still plaster the soak-away walls in and out after using the waterproof cement?

Am constructing my soak-away presently. Dug the ground and casting inside, so wont be able to plaster the back of the soak-away but would plaster the inside. I would be using this waterproof cement to avoid leakage.

No, you dont need to plaster the back. There is no way you can plaster the outside. They just need to mix the waterproof cement with regular cement to plaster the inside. Only the part that poo will be going needed to be plaster. The small part where the regular water is going does not need to be plaster inside.
Hope this helps. Thanks.

Thank you Sir for your response.

Would mix the waterproof cement when it's time for plastering the soakaway . I will also add the waterproof Cement to the concrete mix to cast the four walls tomorrow.

Kindly assist confirm the ideal mix ratio for the concrete.

Thank you.

I don’t know if you are still following this trend but i really gain something from you.

I want to plaster my building walls but the surrounding house has dampness/ water rising from the ground to the walls so i guess the environment has high moisture in the ground.

I want to do the calculations of the water-proof cement that i will use. So can you please give me the specifications(size) of their sokaway and how many bags of the water-proof cements did you use?? And how many kg is 1bag.

I will like to hear from you soon.
