The President of Lagos State Cooperative Federation (LASCOFED), Mr. Oriyomi Ayeola has solicited for the partnership of the Executive Secretary of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Deaconess Modupe Ajibola-Ojodu, in the development of the cooperative federation in the Local Government.

He made the plead during a town hall meeting for its members, held at the Local Government secretariat, Festac Town, Lagos.

Mr. Ayeola noted that the primary and constitutional responsibility of government at any level is the security and well being of the people, hence the need to seek a symbolic partnership with the local government, for the betterment and development of the people.

The president also noted that “despite the credible performance of many cooperative societies will still fall short of the expectations of our members ranging from low government supports initiative, lack of access to formal land, deficit in enabling infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity, hence the need for government to come in”

The President also eulogized Deaconess Ajibola-Ojodu for her relentless efforts in bringing the dividends of democracy to the people. “Ever since we have been holding meetings, this is the first time an Executive Secretary would grace the occasion. Thank you very much ma,” he stated.

The Executive Secretary in her address thanked the association for uplifting the standard of living of its members. She hinted that the Local Government would seek a better partnership with the cooperative society with a view to improving the cooperative society in her domain.

Meanwhile, the President of Amuwo Odofin Multi Purpose Cooperative society, Amuwo Odofin Local Government branch, Chief (Mrs) Afolake Olusanya appreciated the Local Government for making the secretariat a meeting point for her members.

As far the partnership will better the life's of the people am totally in support of it.
