Nigerian Politicians And The Prepared Speech Craze by Nobody: 6:18pm On Aug 24, 2015
Sometimes I find it disgraceful and embarrassing the way Nigerian politicians and public figures use prepared speeches. I keenly followed Obamas campaign on TV in 2008 and I cant remember how many times I saw him use a prepared speech, I’m talking about off-hand speeches laden with substance. Oftentimes even when I listen to the prepared speeches of our politicians it sounds so light, elementary and void of any mind stimulating content. Only thing is that they try to spice it up ostentatiously with big and irrelevant grammar. Even when delivering speeches that will barely last for 5 minutes, they still come with a prepared handout

To make matters worse, even heads of parastatals and agencies that normally come off as being highly educated, still subscribe to the prepared speech craze. Now I ask whether these guys are not intelligent enough to give an intelligent on the spot speech or that they are just not bothered, so they leave the work to an expert.
