Many workers abroad (especially in developed countries like the UK, US, Canada, etc.) are paid an hourly wage, but whether they have guaranteed hours depends on the contract type.

Full-time: Typically 36–40 hours per week.
Part-time: Usually around 24 hours per week but can be less.

Some contracts guarantee a minimum number of hours per week, while others, like zero-hour contracts (common in the UK), don’t guarantee any hours.

To me personally, the hourly rate might not work in Nigeria because a lot of client will find it difficult to pay. Presently the skilled labour are demanding for 15k per day and if you to go by hourly rate you need to consider the
cost of transportation and the location of the project.

Transportation and fuel is taking alot of money these days. From oshodi to Ajah alone is 1500naira. From respective house to Oshodi and from Ajah bus stop to site location is not part of the money. Some technicians are spending close to 7k on Transportation per day. 100naira is becoming so useless in transportation area because hardly you will see bus conductor collecting 100naira for 1km journey . If you want to go with your car to site, be ready to spend more because 20-25k will go on fuel alone.

Hello, I just came across this thread and read through from 2023. I’m building a 3 bedroom on a standard one plot in Lagos. All room en suite with guest toilet. I just got a quote for soak away which is 1.5m and fence which includes plastering at 2.9m. Cement cost at 10300. Please I want to know if this is a reasonable quote cos I’m in the U.S. Thank you.

For a .45 mm gauge of Agen long span, the man has quoted N10,488 per metre.

His computation indicates he is quoting for 334 square metres or so.

J&B cable is also a Nigeria cable but don't
know much about the quality cos I am not
their distributor.

Few things I need to point out from the list.
- There is no ceiling light at all from the list. It means you did not have POP at all in the house. He is using wall bracket in all the are Inclucluding kitchen.. Pls confirm from him.
- He listed 5pcs of earth rod and there is no earth coupler. Also the price of original copper earth rod is more than what he price. What he quote should be copper coated earth rod and not original as he stated in his quotation.
-The main PHCN supply to your house, is it going to be 3-phase or single phase? The cut out is 3pcs and normally the cut out suppose to be four(4)(Red phase, Blue phase, Yellow phase and neutral) for 3-phase connection and 2pcs(live & neutral) for single phase connection.

Why using ceiling rose since it's a conduit system of wiring. I could see from the list that you have nine(9) AC and six(6) water heater.
-I don't know the type of fittings he priced but you can request for pictures from him.

From foundation to roofing step by step process on best practices and materials to use. I don't mind buying a book if there is one available. I am building my first house and I want to make sure I do everything right and not rely blindly on contractors.

Wow I love this detailed explanation. The building is a full POP building. Concerning the wires, is there any brand you can recommend? The electricity supply will be 3-phase, 9ACs? That’s not possible and the water heater will only be 4 or 5.
