3strikes: Look at these BABY-CLOWNS! You should be able to do better than this now? Upon all the l dey U.K wey una dey form! Sweeping streets at 4am in the morning fro a U.K Boroughs does not any of you Britico, hope u know. Anyway, when you grow up proper, you can come and face me substantially. Awon omo rederede. Its is obvious both of you are just "starters", no wonder your first build was such a headache for the whole of Nairaland. I am sure when yo get to the fourth, fifth house, you wont be this stewpid not to know how to do "due diligence" on any Contractor you give your work to! Some of you have stay-tuned since 2005...... until you lost reception! Give me "something substantial" to chew on...... then l will know l am dealing with Boyz who gat Balls.......... not cry-cry babies. Lastly, "fluent grammar and impeccable structure of words" dont just come from the sky! It is a product of sound, all-round education, proper upbringing and all-round experience of life. So dont be envious! Maybe you will get there one day, if you behave yourselves. My own kids, at such early age, are already getting there. You know, "Like begets Like" as is often said. Lastpage! BTW: I never said I was THE ONLY ONE who begged on your behalf, to get you arefund when you want to die on our neck here (and there is no "glory-taking" from that because it was the right thing to do ; and l will do it for/to anyone).... but the facts are there on this thread for any one to refer to, that l was ONE of the very VOCAL few that insisted on Brabus refunding you. Its very funny when you see people who can do jerk, start developing some fake, online courage all of a sudden . I hope you also remembered that some gentleman on this thread (whom you contacted), also contacted me "privately" on your behalf, to help you get things organised if Brabus refused to pay you? Go back and read those posts properly, if still in doubt. Just dont bark up the wrong tree........ this @Lastpage forgives easily but can teach some sense into silly babies as well. Its part of my 'daily routine' to detail risky people and teach them lessons, if need be. Just dont be the unfortunate person, because you wont even know what hit you or where it is coming from. Hobnobbing in the U.K does not confer immunity..... ask Kanu if in doubt. 3 Likes |

mufutau55: I'm still working on the fence. A few quotes I received included 2 of those 4 materials. Not sure which is best for a fence that I don't plan to plaster because I want it covered in vines. |
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by n3xt(m): 6:52pm On Jul 12, 2016 |
msogunro: If you don't plan to plaster and planned to have it covered in vines, you'll be better off using engineered bricks (ie blocks made with stone dust) and get good sharp sand for mortar. Gravel and stone dust mix could also work for the concrete. So, you can go for a Stone Dust + Gravel mix for the concrete works. |

mufutau55: Thank you. If you don't mind, can you let me know why sand and granite is better over gravel and stone dust? I'd like to understand the difference in case I have to make a similar decision further down the road. |

msogunro: It's a cheaper alternative to granite. We use granite mostly because we can't get good gravel #fact (especially in Lagos). If you're able to get good round gravels (or washed) which I believe you'll get easily in Ibadan, Oyo and Ogun state, why waste your money on granites. Below is the pics of gravel+stone dust mix used on my chateau gate/fence pillars. I did machine mix though. Remember, they're all aggregates.

@ msogunro, I'm sure you'll be familiar with the aggregate in pic 3. Red Rock. It's very common in Oyo state. They are all coarse aggregates.

msogunro: There were test carried out here sometimes ago by Engineer Aventures and some other person that detailed how granite and stone-dust was more stronger. But in a fence pillar, I think stone-dust is overkill, but granite is always stronger than gravels as I was told.. I am not an Engineer, just telling you from what I have heard and read from various Engineers, I may be wrong though. Hajji M. 2 Likes |

Some years back while living in North Texas, a raccoon decided to enter my attic to setup shop (garage was mistakenly left open overnight). So for a couple of days there it will make all sorts of racket up there. If you walk by a certain section of the garage, she'll growl and hiss. It was actually quite entertaining. Then I went and purchased a Raccoon cage. I set the trap up there (folks you do not want to come face to face with a Raccoon while on a ladder Few hours the Raccoon was caught. I had to wait till the morning to drive out into the monies to release it. I happened to be restoring a car at the same time in the garage where I kept the 'coon. Everytime I walked by to grab a tool the Raccoon will rear up, hiss, paw at the cage to get a piece of me (Neighbor said shoot the dam thing already, but nope I'm Mr. Environmentalist). Hours later when I finished my work on the car I was restoring, the 'coon had tired itself out. It wouldn't even move from a sleeping position any more when I walked by In fact when I went to release it back into nature later in the morning I had to purposefully nudge it out of the cage. It was all spent and worn out. It was hard to imagine that this was the same boisterous animal I had caught in my trap earlier I am EgunMogaji, I know how to trap, domesticate and release wild animals PS: The clean up in the attic required strong chemicals because you know wild undomesticated animals just pee and shyte everywhere "The timidity of a Tiger is not an indication of his bravity" Chief Dr. Alhadji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister GCFR 3 Likes 1 Share |
