karleone: Coming back a 12 hours ban. I will advice you to try polystyrene partition walls. Polystyrene will be cost effective, faster, neater and constitution very light load. This wall can have either iron frame or wooden frame. |

mufutau55: I guess you were probably diligently moderating controversies away from threads without realizing that controversies and roforofo fuels traffic and traffic fuels adverts. No roforofo; no traffic.......No traffic no advert placement.........No advert placement, no money so " work not benefiting Nairaland". diordaves: Brother Diordaves, you are right on the money. No sir, I no bother myself anymore. I just feel back to see the state of things in Property section. This the only forum I spend 99.99% of my useful time. But you are right, generating traffic is important for business. Thank you very much. Hajji M. |

abdulwastecx: So do you render (plaster) the Polystyrene? can the wall take minimal impact from moving house furniture? can one hang kitchen wall units, flat screen TVs, wall mirrors and family photos on the wall? Will there be crack maps on the polystyrene wall with time? How cost effective if just limited companies produce the product in Nigeria? Can you please dwell on this polystyrene alternative a bit more extensively? We could be on to something here in building temporary houses in Abuja. |

diordaves: You don't need to render (plaster) the polystyrene again because it is produced with a rendered surface. The wall will be capable of taking any kind of impact from furniture and others. You can hang your TV, wall mirrors and other accessories on the wall. It is cost effective because it reduces the structural requirements of the slab, beams and columns because of its relative light weight We have about two companies producing this polystyrene in abuja alone, sourcing will not be difficult. You can as well ask me any questions and all information will be provided sir. Thanks |

abdulwastecx: Nice our able mathematical engineer. What's the cost and structural implication for a bungalow with all external walls made of sandcrete blocks and all internal wall made of polystyrene? Is there any significant cost/efficiency savings? Will this accommodate conduit wiring and mechanical pipping? If the walls are not to be rendered, how do you fill the gap/chink between two polystyrene board? Further if one adopts all internal polystyrene walls, what's will be the lintel method? How do you tie the roof to the structure? |

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good electrician, preferably on the Mainland - Lagos? Just small corrections/additions - not a big job. Preferably someone you've worked with and doesn't make a mountain out of a molehill. Thanks! |
