What’s R.O.V.

R.O.V. is an acronym of Remotely-Operated-Vehicle; it’s a vehicle,that thanks to tether is piloted and controlled from remote location, which can be a vessel or an offshore platform. International Maritime Contract-Associate has defined five class of R.O.V. but only four are most used.

R.O.V. Class I: It’s a small electric vehicle, due to his size, it can only have a Camera, lights and a sensor, sometimes it has a small electric manipulator.

R.O.V. Class II: It ‘s a midsize vehicle that has a more payload compared to a Class I. It can be setup with Manipulators , hydraulic tools and survey sensor; thanks to is size and weight it is associated with a launch and recovery system (Lars, winches & tms) .

R.O.V. Class III: It’s a very performant vehicle also defined workclass. It is often equipped with manipulators and hydraulic tools and most of these have R.O.V. Thruster (Motors) hydraulic. It is used for construction, inspection or maintenance of oil fields.

R.O.V Class IV: It’s a R.O.V. that has no real flight system, also defined Trancer because it is used for pipe lay down on the seabed. Most of these are placed in ship’s bow and driven to plow the seabed. They are hydraulic and are giant size.

ARGUS R.O.V. does not pollute and respects nature!

R.O.V. is composed of two parts:

Main part: is completely electric so it does not pollute, and it’s a great machine to work in protected areas.

Auxiliary part: is composed of an electric motor and a small hydraulic pump
that generates power for a manipulator.


The Hydraulic pump, works with inherently biodegradable oil, it meets the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department’s toxicity requirements and has passed the EPA/600/4-90-027F* toxicity test requirement.


So it is approved as environmentally friendly!
