hypocrites!...now they want to attack poor civil servants trying hard to give their children the best they can

until there's a national directive that says all public service holders @ state, local and federal level,be it senators, governors, etc should be mandated to send their children to state and federal schools and prohibit them from sending them abroad

just until then, let the teachers be!!!...

All these people saying trash that he doesn't have the right to do what he is doing. I will advise you guys to tell your parents working in Katsina schools to resign instead of wailing here and there.

a good call if only government officials and polital appointees are also forced to use our public hospitals, schools, public transport and even public toilet.

For me, i think is a welcome development.

But,

The politicians should start ensuring their children do not go outside the shores of Nigeria for their education,

The politicians deploy their children to public schools.

Then if the above is implemented, then you can extend it to the teachers in public school.

We know the root of the problem so let us address it from the root.

Utter Rubbish!!!! How does that improve the quality of Education in public school.

The teachers need proper training and the government needs to pump funds into the construction and maintenance of public school as well as improve the curriculum to meet the standard of the western world.

Na wa o. The rate at which people are ordering and issuing directives and ultimatums you would think we run a socialist or dictatorial government

This is what this country needs.

It will be better if they extend it to the whole educational sector.

Some people need to be accountable. only that, this time they will be accountable to their wards and the general public.

They will have no option than to make things work.

This is not what the country needs. How is it a teacher's fault that 'public schools' are not stndard.

Lets attack the problem. Our schools are rubbish.

The Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has directed primary school teachers and all head teachers in the state to withdraw their children from private schools for enrolment in public schools.

Chairman of the SUBEB, Lawal Buhari Daura gave the directive on Wednesday, when he led management of the Board on an inspection tour of Local Education Authority (LEA) in Kankia.

Daura said the directive was in line with an earlier order issue by the Governor, Aminu Bello Masari that public officers under his administration must patronise public schools.

He insisted that the directive was part of efforts to revive the education sector, but was silent on whether or not penalties awaited defaulters.

Our correspondent reports that findings indicate that most of the primary school teachers in public schools do not patronise public schools as they enrol their children and wards in private schools, an action which suggests that they have no confidence in the public schools.

Considering the name of the person who issued the directive (in bold above ), anybody still in doubt about their mental capacity?

Very stupid policy. The illeteracy in the north is appalling.
The illiteracy in the entire country is appalling while that of the North is something I can only refer to as 'culturally induced illiteracy laced with religion' they aren't making policies that would create opportunities for parents to educate their kids properly thereby raising a better generation but here they are reasoning from their anus.

My dear ,this policy is whack.

This is really stupid, is it the fault of the teachers that the state cannot provide quality education.

when we talk of quality education, is it all about the building and facilities?
what of the quality of the teachers?

if the government decide to sack teachers that are below par, what then?grin

I would like the idea, if Nigerians will speak in one voice and demand that all politicians withdraw their children from foreign universities and have them return to school in Nigeria. That would be a good thing.

ma'am

If you have been to a public school, you will know what I am talking about.

This teachers get paid without delay. What stop them from rendering the service they were paid for.
One must not be in a paradise, before he can study.
What this teachers do,is sign attendance form then go to their respective private businesess, during school hours.
Some will be seen in a class like 3 times the whole term.

By the way,the previous administration already gave public schools a face lift.

Walk around and see for yourself. What else do they need.

My friend just forget. I'm from Katsina State and can confirm to you that Gov. Masari's sons and even daughters are studying abroad. Muhammad is presently in the UK studying, his daughter Khadija (known & called Ammah) is in Jordan studying. Only Abubakar among them is someone i cannot exacly tell u which country he is studying. This is the fact

This is a great policy.

Private citizens of the state who makes a living outside government patronage can take their kids to any school of their choice, private or public.
This policy only applies to primary school teachers, head teachers and other public officers working under Kastina's state government.

Nice one

It's there right to send there kids to any school of their choice. So,I don't understand the compulsion from the Katsina state government to withdraw their kids from private schools.

Re: Katsina Orders Withdrawal Of Children From Private Schools by Nobody: 7:58pm On Aug 26, 2015
Its just a matter of them same time absorbing the jobless lot which the directive would otherwise make private school teachers, and corresponding increased income be generated to service them. They cannot carelessly make people jobless except for spite.

Black man and black brain undecided Mandating public school teachers to withdraw their kids from private schools is an infringement on their rights and i dont think that is in consonance with any labour laws.
People have the right to send their kids to wherever;thats why i dont join people to clamour for our leaders to stop sending their kids wherever. Our leaders should just be morally guided enough to make our schools globally competitive and we citizens should demand just that.

The governor too should withdraw his children from foreign or private colleges, and also mandate his grandchildren and family members to register in public schools.

The causes of poor quality of education are what I think the governor should have addressed rather than playing into the gallery.
