Up to 200 people are feared dead after a boat carrying around 400 migrants off the coast of Libya.

Many of the migrants are thought to have become trapped in the boat after it capsized shortly after leaving the town of Zuwara on its way to Italy.

The Libyan coastguard managed to rescue around half of those on board but around 200 more were found dead.

The rescue mission brought harrowing scenes as body bags lined the pavement as the deceased were transported from the scene.

Survivors were taken to taken to a detention facility in Sabratha, west of Tripoli.
