Hy guys,

i wanted to share this story of myn to the world, its a novel i wrote three years ago about a university girl and a working class boy who is in love with each other but faces persecution because of their class differences.........

Read as sandra and chine fight for their love inspite difficulties...

'in every man's life, there are things that seprates us and things that binds us, we have to face all these to fufil all....' sandra listened as the preacher in the t.v show says all these...

Today being sunday, one could expect her to be in a church service and not in front of her tv since morning but she is going out with someone special today, special in the sense that he came just at the right time, at the right frame and in the right manner...


'what is taking chine so long?' sandra thought, she checked her watch; 12.30pm... She hissed.

After a long silence, she switched off the t.v and decided to go outside for fresh air, just then a car beeped... 'Ah!! At last' sandra said as chine stormed in..

'Am sorry i kept you waiting' he said

'No probs, i hope all is well' she inquired

'No, there is no problem, i came home from mass rather late', chine said and gave a kind of charming but irritating smile..

'well, i just hope your mom doesn't get angry, remember you said she wants us there as early as 10am' sandra reminded

'Lets get going then', he said and led her outside to the car parked just right in front of the house....

Chine drove speedily as he wanted to reach on time, he didnt even looked or talked to sandra besides him.....

'how many hours is owerri from onitsha' sandra asked trying to initiate a discussion.....

'About 2hrs or more' he replied...

A car was trying to travigate at their car side, if not for the experience of the driver something wrong could have happened....
Sandra was just praying in her mind that the journey ends with them in one piece... Smiling she remembers how she first met chine......

He happened to be d boss of her friend whom she is staying with, he was walking towards the exit door without looking when he bumped into her..... His nice and polite manner of apologizing quickly captivates her heart... Maybe its love at first sight for them.... He was cute looking and clean, she too was looking radishing that day.... He asked her who she was looking for and with this question a lovely conversation ensued and this happened two months ago....

Chine came at the right time when she was on holiday from school and needed to work to earn money. Being an orphan and having two younger ones to cater for she decided to live with a friends of hers.... Meeting chine secured that dream of her getting a job.....

Now she is working in his company and earning money to cater for her family needs....

'we are now close to mom's home' chine said

'oh!! So soon' she said as if she just regained consciousness

She saw different 'gigantic' houses just at the beggining of the street. Soon, they reached his moms' place

'See baby, we' ve arrived safely' chine said as he swung into a drive from the park into a compound very large as a football pitch...

Sandra saw a big white house standing majestically. It was a colonial house, full of arches, windows and porches.
Huge horse chest nut and neem trees towered protectively around the house and the flower garden were well-maintained. A gardener was busy moving the lawn.

'This is paradise, very beautiful' sandra whispered to chine

'wait till you get in; he said happily, then you will know my mom is a woman of high taste and class'

He parked his car under an orange tree near the east wing of the house and led the way. Sandra followed him silently, notting with admiration the potted flowers in the verenda in front of her.

Chine rang the bell in front of the house and a good looking girl of about her age or younger came out.

'Hello chine, long time ' she said smiling while looking at sandra beside him with a smirk look..

'Hi Nneka' he only said and entered inside, sandra followed as a loyal sheep.

'woah, really this is paradise' she thought in herself

'make yourself comfortable, sandy..' chine said motioning her to one of the deep golden red arm in the room...

'Thank you' she said as she sat down a little overwhelmed by the splendor around her.

'I'll be back in a minute' with this chine disappeared through a door at the end of the room...

Sandra began to look around her. The lustrous silver brocade curtains with a dainty grey lacy ones between them gave the room a regal appearance.

As she was looking around, her eyes met Nneka's own...

'oh! Sorry i didnt greet you the other time, good aftern....' she stopped as Nneka snubbed her and focused on the tv program.....

Soon, chine came in with a woman who looks young, probably in her thirties sandra thought..... Her face shone as stars and she looked as if she was chine's sister.....

Chine has once told her that he was the only son of four children, 'this might be his elder sister, or' sandra still thinking till chine blurted out...

'mom, meet my friend sandra. She works in the company'

'sandra, my lovely mom' chine said....

'oh!!, is she d one Nkem has been singing all about?' his mom said....

'Good afternoon ma' sandra said

'how are you?' chine mother replied without any show of enthusiasm...

One could notice from her voice that either she doesnt like sandra or she was not in a good mood....

Chine's mom looked at sandra from head to toe, even sandra became shy and looked at her shoes and gown she was putting on to be sure she was alright...

They all sat down, nneka drew closer and switch off the t.v to listen as chines' mom started her questioneer.....

'what is your full name, young woman?' she asked

'my name is sandra ifeoma igwe' she answered

'am not yet through; she shrugged, but am studying micro-biology in Nnamdi azikwe uni, awka' she concluded already getting nervous

'what do ur parents do for a living?' chine's mom asked with her eyes all over sandra mouth....
Chine looked rather irritated, he was looking for an opportunity to end the conversation as its getting more intimidating for sandra....

Nneka was filling her ears with stories, she chuckled as chine's mother continued to pound sandra with questions.....

'erm...m..my parents are dead' she later blurted out....

'what killed your par......
'mom dats okay, lets eat lunch....it suppose to be ready by now' chine cuts in

'honey, why did u cut in the conversation?' his mom said in an angry worried voice
Sandra felt like saying: ' its okay ma, he is sorry' but the words just couldnt come out, chinezls mom was one of those women who gives the impression that they can never be faulted....

'mom am sorry, the question was just too much' chine later said

Soon a maid came in; 'food is ready ma'm and mister'

'i will go and call nkem and the rest' nneka said as she hurriedly left the sitting room....

The dinning room was large and looked more like a banquet hall..there was a buffet, plates, spoons and other cutleries... There was wine at each side and a menu too.....

'wow, dis place is really nice' she said to herself and managed a smile

soon everyone were out of their rooms and seated....

She saw his sisters as they hugged chine tightly since its been long they've seen, she remembered her siblings.... The girls varied in height and facially u will know who is older...

'meet my younger sisters, nkem, nkechi and iruka' chine said

Nkem seems to like her, from all expressions and impressions she was chine's favourite and surely will be her favourite too....

Sandra started feeling uncomfortable when the meal started, she never had the opportunity to go to a large social gathering where elites and the likes go to, so she doesnt know much etiquettes that they observe.....

She had always been her natural self but it seems she cant use fork to eat the freshly made pounded yam as they were all doing.... She was not use to that so she decided to use her hands.....

Iruka stared at her irritated, she couldnt help but speak breaking the long silence everyone had maintained....

'bro, who is she?, why is she eating like this?' she rolled her eyes

'erm... She is brother's friend... I wanted to introduce her formally after the meal to you my lil princesses' chine said smiling as he muched his meat....

' what sort of friend?, dont tell me u will marry this? She replied without respect pointing at sandra as if she was disgusting...

Everyone stopped eating immediately, chine flared: 'who did u just call this?, what do u mean by that?, she is not even ur mate.' he concluded in the lowest tone he can....

'why are u shouting at your sister for no just reason?' his mom flared

'mom, she just called sandra 'this' and u saw the way she looked....

' and so what' his mother fired back; how can u shout at your sister for someone who doesnt worth it....'she concluded already boiling...
Everybody stared at her red boiling eyes, sandra didnt know if she could evaporate into thin air or dissappear...she was still thinking of what to say or do when chine's mom faced her:
' and u if u know what best just leave this house immediately, because of u my son just did something he can never imagine doing...how can he raise his voice for his little sister?' she said panting

Nneka stood there side smiling, at least not all hope is lost....

'fine, then i will leave with her..besides we came together' chine said a little calmer and confident....

'chine, dont worry..i know my way back home' sandra said in a shaky tone neither knowing whether to smile, cry or remain calm

As she said this, she stood up and left the dinning room. Chine ran after her, everyone soon descended to the sitting room to observe what is going on..

Chine's mom called out: 'chine, chine if you leave this house, you seize to be called chine nwokocha as far as i am your mother mrs evelyn nwokocha' she shouted out as she beat her chest...

Chine paused where he was as if he was remoted but suddenly walked out the sitting room and saw sandra who was walking hurriedly to the gate..

'sandra, pls forgive meam sorry i never knew my mom and my sister will do this..call me when u get home...dont forget..i love you' he shouted at her who was already breaking down to tears...

She couldnt hide the tears anymore, and so she wept like never before as she left the house

Chine watched patiently as she left the house then he entered the house...

'mum, why are u like this? Nkem said breaking the long silence everyone has held

'what do u know lil girl?, so you'll be happy and accept such a woman to be your sister-in-law u must be out of ur mind' Nneka said

'dont mind her, chines' brat' Nkechi added

'hmmm, it seems your brother is daring what i can do' their mother said tapping her feet on the floor as she stood still hands folded...

Just then, chine came in looking like a wounded lion

'mom, i hope you are happy; he said clapping, because u tink u ve finally ....', his mother cuts in and pointed: ' eh!, see what this girl as done to you...am sure she bewitched u.....see the way ur brother is speaking to me' she added speaking to her daughters...

Chidi didn't even reply, he just left to his room angrily.....

Today is probably the saddest day in sandra's life apart from when she lost both parents in the space of four months..

She laid awake for hours crying as to the incident that occured earlier in the day, her friend she is squatting with chinyere is not yet back from church being a worker, a professed youth church leader to be precise...

'woah such a nice and refreshing meeting' chinyere said as she entered in. The door was not locked and was opened in such a way that one could see the other inside...
She entered into the sitting room, the house looked exactly the way she left it in the morning only that the tissue rolls n the dinning table were gone.

Chinyere entered the room and saw sandra by the window side crying and cleaning her tears with tissue rolls...
'what happened? Chinyere asked sincerely; say something, hope nothing bad happened' she concluded as she sat close to sandra
'nothing serious, just that some dust fell into my eyes and it started making me cry' sandra lied to her best ability

'hmm, really....so how was ur trip with chine? U met his family? Chinyere inquired as she took off her clothes...

'yes i did. Th.....they are v..very nice people' sandra lied again in a shaky voice as if she wanted to cry but she hold it back.....

Looking at her critically, chinyere asked: 'are u sure? U dont sound as if.....
Sandra immediately cuts in: 'they were very inquisitive, asked lots of questions...thats y i wasnt to sure to say if they were nice or not' she concluded faking a smile

'c'mon what do u expect? Chine is rich and they may tink u are after his money so they have to ask questions.'

'yes, i think so' she faked a smile again

'am so tired, i need to rest...tomorrow is work' sandra concluded as she laid well on bed

'you didnt ask me how the meeting went, it was so fantastic, everyone was happy about my presentation and even the you... Chinyere paused as she noticed she was talking to herself all along
sandra was just pretending to be asleep, all through the night she kept thinking about the incident...
'why?, what?, where?' all these questions filled her mind soon she really fell asleep.....

The morning came so fast that she woke up 30mins after her normal schedule time of 6.00am....

'oh you are now awake; chinyere said opening the curtains as if to show sandra dat its daybreak already, i was wondering...something really happened yesterday that you dont want to talk about' she added as she sat close to her...

Sandra broke into tears again: ' his mom sent me out, she felt i wassss .... I dont even know what to say' she said as she cried even more

'sorry, why are u now crying urself out? What did chine say? I know he cant be in support of that' chinyere said

'yes he was not' she said in a crying tone

' gosh, some parents are just something else... At least u ve got chine's support' her friend assured

'no, i dont need him animore.. I wont cause a breach between he and his family..i would only spoil tinz...i wont disturb him ever again...i will just forget about him' she replied in a shaky voice

'do u think its easy to forget about love?, if u both love each other strongly then u both can fight for that love'

' no he even said i should call him when i reach home but i didnt, i will leave his life....i will resign today and go back home to see my siblings before heading back to school....i tot of this thru the nite and this is my conclusion' she said as she stood up like a walking dead to the bathroom

Sandra entered the bathroom she couldnt stop thinking about what happened the day before today.
After a light shower,she quickly dressed up and left the room....breakfast was toast bread and tea, she ate only a slice after much persuasion from her friend...

They both left silently in chinyere's car, soon they got to work.. Sandra sat down quietly, she prayed she wont be too busy so she can write her resignation letter.

'the boss is not yet at work today, thats unlike him' onyeka one of her workmate observed

'hmm, maybe he is sick or something...his body is not firewood' anya, another, added....

Sandra hoped chine would come so as to submit the letter to him, that was her only unhurdled problem.....

Chine had a rather good night than the afternoon, he later came to the sitting room and saw Nkem watching tv....

'hey lil sis, you are still awake' chine said

'hmmn,am not feeling sleepy yet' she replied as she threw popcorn to her mouth...

'okay, i will go back to sleep...slip well' he told her...
As he was about to leave, his lil. Sister called him: 'Bro chi., can i say something to you?'

'ok you re free'
although nkem is the youngest, she seems more wise than her older sisters as she speaks the right thng at the exact time.

'sister sandy really fits u well, she makes u happy and am happy....dont give up on her regardless of what mom says' she said with much insight, one would think she is counselling a younger person than she is.

'ok granny' chine joked which made them laugh

they both watched tv, played some games which made chine feel at ease throughout the nite..

When u observe well chine's mum parents are very poor. There is nothing to write village about em let alone home. She marry to rich man then she come dey show her self like tele wey no get vision.

After six long hours of working, lunch time came....

'The boss has arrived' onyeka said

'oh really!!' she said as she walked to her table, with the letter of resignation at hand she sighed and prayed for courage to face him

'knock, knock,knock'

'yes, come in' chine said looking for a file
Sandra came in reluctantly as if she was forced in his office in the first place....

'Sandra!!!' chine exclaimed; how are u doing, pls sit....how was ur nite?' he concluded concerned
'fine' she said suprised she even did
'erm..m, i was expecting your call last nite' chine said but this time no reply
He decided to change topic: 'so i hope u are not angry for yesterday, why are u here by the way?' he said smiling

'am resigning' she blurted out

'what?, why?, your contract has not yet......your holiday is not yet....why do u want to resign?, you dont have to.....

'i have made up my mind, if u really love me, then dont stop me...thats d best decision for us to take... Lets breakup....if we dont, one of us will get hurt or i will be d one to get hurt....., its best we forget what we had, i dont want to be the cause of ur family problems, i dont think ur mom will change' she said breathing fast

'sandra....is this the end?....i dont get u, why should we give up now'

'am leaving' she concluded as she dropped the letter and walked out...

Chine wanted to run after her but decided to let matters cool a bit...

She went to her table to pack he few things, everyone says they will miss her...

'sandy, so u are going to leave us dis soon'

'dont forget to visit o, anitym u come to onitsha'

'alrite i will' she said as she left the office

Chine decided to visit her at home after work, 'maybe she would be at ease by that time' he thought to himself

Sandra came home distressed, after she entered the house the first thing that came to her mind was to start packing her things...

She decided to go to the market to get some few things for her siblings, on getting home, she heard voices: 'oh chinyere must have been back by now' she said to herself
she went in and saw chine and chinyere chatting happily, with out any show of excitement she just greeted them and walked pass to her room....

Chine waited for so long but she didnt come out, he begin to tire out of waiting so he told chinyere he wants to enter the room:'maybe she doesnt know i came to visit her'

'who else do u come to visit?, if u want to go in...y not? U re free'

'thanks, excuse me' he said as he entered the room

When sandra saw him, she sighed and said: 'what are u here for?'

'For you, sandy, lets talk this straight'

'like what?, we are through i told u'

'i dont think so, our love can change my moms' mind'

'u tink so? Y are u taking this hard to understand?, i already told u my mind: lets forget what we had, we are not compatible.'

'we are only going to hurt ourselves sandy, i have never loved anyone d way i love u...it will b really hard.....

'Chine, pls leave.....i beg of u' she concluded with tears in her eyes

'fine i will, but remember i will always love you' he said as he walked out d room angrily

Upon hearing those last words, sandra broke down to tears but on a second thought she took courage with it....
