When I switched on my phone yesterday nite,an unusual happened. I call it unusual because I haven't experienced it before. What Happened ?
Someone used this number (+27832225711) to send message to my phone but the message can not be displayed.
Now, I want to confirm if anyone in the house has gotten this type of msg. I brought this to the house because this a forum where problems are solved.
I wouldn't know if any recruiting agency has used this particular number to send test notification to anyone.
Please , I need your help.

Sam,I have had a similar experience.From d same numba&msg couldnt b displayed.I think +27 is d code 4 S.Africa.

Encountered the same thing from the mystery number. Apparently a text message was sent that could not be displayed. Really got me confused. But i dont think it has anything to do with a recruitment agency. i think something Fishy i going on somewhere, Hope someone is not tryin to spread a mysterious virus to our phones . If anyones got an idea pls do not hesitate to share it . THANKS

This might just be somene trying to send u an mms from S.A and since ur phone is not GPRS compactable that Y it comes that way. Y dont u try calling the number it could be someone u know.

I have once received an empty message from someone I know (though she did type some texts before sending the message).  I guess the message just got lost in the GSM ether.  It also happens in the internet ether with blank email message.  So, I don't think you should be scared about that.  Technology is not foolproof.  As for the +27, Chukwu has rightly pointed out that it's the South Africa international telephone code.

but i am confuse y must it b people that are members of NAIRALAND? I think it must b from one of these vaccancies that we maigty v applied to.

think maybe it's one of these internet site that offers free sms. an example is sms.ac. Nigeria is however not accessible to many of these sites and that's why you probably get a blank message. I don't think it is anything to worry about - my own thinking anyway

The number (+27832225711) is virtual mobile number used for sending bulk SMS not South Africa number. You can only reply the number, you can't call it.

I was sent the message too, but mine was display it says code error R9A3.

I want to ask any of dose dat recieved weda U have eva registered with wap.mygamma.com.D site has facilities for chat.I suspect dis mail is from dem.

i had a similar experience as y'al, infact i got the message 5 times and was al over my diaries looking for international codes that match '+278' or +'27'.
one of the messages read subscription update 009 bla bla bla, after i put my sim into a more 'dynamic' phone. but shortly after the last message arrived, the 'vmobile' standby display on my phone changed to 'celtel'. so then, i felt it was all about that.
now i wonder if all that replied this topic are on the 0802 network

I think you are right cos i got this message from the number +27832225711 "subscription update -0025 9000 "on my fone and afterwards the vmobile standby changed to celtel. I think its on 080-2 network cos aint seen it on my other lines.

There is no problem,i guess all d people dat received this message are CELTEL subscribers. Did u notice dat when such message is received,d Vmobile on your phone change 2 Celtel,if dat is d case let me know coz dat is wat i felt when i saw d message.
