Two arrested for poisoning Ibadan chief

Two domestic staff of the Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun, have been arrested by the police in Oyo State for allegedly poisoning her food.







The command's Public Relations Officer, Miss Olabisi Okuwobi, who confirmed the incident on Monday, explained that the woman, who was rushed to the hospital after taking the substance, was already recuperating at home.

A police First Incident Report obtained by our correspondent on Monday showed that the Ibadan chief had reported the case at the Ikolaba police station.

She identified his guard, one Banjo Adeoye, believed to be a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, as the one who handed over the black substance suspected to be poison to her housemaid, Aishat, a native of Togo, to poison her food.

According to the report, the housemaid subsequently put the poison in her vegetable delicacy, Ewedu soup, which she later served her mistress (Iyalode).
