Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi has dismissed rumour of any probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over a rumoured possession of N7b in foreign account.

Amaechi also dismissed statement credited to Governor Nyesom Wike that he is corrupt.
Amaechi made the statement while addressing APC supporters in Port Harcout.
While alleging that Wike has over 5bank accounts, Amaechi accused him of corruption.

According to Amaechi, “One of the reasons I removed Nyesom Wike as Chief of Staff was that I sat down and discovered that he was doing contracts, I discovered that if I sign a document for another person, he will seize it and ask the person for bribe.
“At the start of government,as Chief of Staff,he wore long
robes that he was a Muslim, today,he is going on bended
knees in churches, let me tell you,don’t take God for granted.
“The funny thing is that he knows that I know him,we are
ready for them.
“When you see him,tell him to publish any other account I
have apart from my salary account and the account I had as
Speaker,i challenge anybody in the world to prove me
wrong.

“They have asked me not to talk and am keeping quiet, I
hope I can maintain that for long because I can’t stay here
and a known thief is calling me a thief.
“I know all his companies and I have a copy for every
document I signed as governor,let him say one company
that I own.

He also said that the commission of inquiry set up to probe him was illegal and would not honour their invitation, “The panel is illegal, they should comply with the laws guiding the Constitution of such panel,when they do that,i
will appear and defend myself,” he said

RIVERS State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has called on his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, to go and defend himself before the judicial commission of inquiry sitting in the state.

Wike, who was reacting to Amaechi’s declaration on Saturday that he (Amaechi) would not appear before the Justice George Omereji-led panel of inquiry, said it was wrong for the former governor to describe the commission as illegal even when the court had ruled that the panel was in order.

The governor, who spoke on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said he would not take issues with Amaechi over the setting up of the judicial commission of inquiry.
