The Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has disowned Twitter and Facebook accounts opened on his behalf, advising those who are doing so to desist from such, as he has not authorized or cause to be opened any Facebook or Twitter account on his behalf.

Just yesterday, September 5, 2015, a Twitter account, @SenAkpabio was opened and the account tweeted three messages, one included a photo of the Senator, presumably in a London Hospital bed.

He also charged Nigerians, particularly the political class, to desist from politicizing disasters and tragedies, but should work towards the unity and progress of the country without any political or ethnic coloration.

Akpabio, who stated this in a statement he personally signed and send to The Trent, Sunday, September 6, 2015, thanked God for his survival and said he remained grateful to Nigerians for their prayers and display of concern.

The former governor specifically thank President Mohamadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Dogara, his successor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his colleagues in the National Assembly, and former President Goodluck Jonathan for their concern and expression of love when the accident occurred.

He also expressed the appreciation of his family members to traditional and religious leaders, who have been calling on a daily basis to inquire about his well being.

Dear Senator Apkabio,


We Nigerians really don't care that much about you.

Your accident was the result of bad and reckless driving that has become the signature of 99% of our elected and appointed Government officials.

If you had driven like a normal sensible human being, respected the Laws (in this case traffic laws) which you and your fellow senators have been elected to make and just exhibited the type of behavior that is expected of a leader and not a dictator, that accident would never had happened.


Whilst you were immediately flown to the United Kingdom (6 hours away) as a matter of urgency and not to the world class hospital (45 mins away) you supposedly built and commissioned in your home state, We Nigerians noticed that neither the driver of the car you ran into, your driver and your escort were flown abroad to receive the same level of special treatment you were receiving.

I guess your life is more important than that of those other people.



Anyways, I just thought to let you know that we Nigerians really didn't care if you were well, alive or dead. I for one actually wished you lost an arm or a leg or sustained some really serious injury that would have forced the Senate to revisit the road users law and deal with the attitude of Government officials, wealthy Nigerians who purchase police officers as escorts and vehicles with sirens on our roads. Sort of like a Martyr of Nigerian Road User Law.
