Unemployed Nigerian girl? You don’t know no-ing, I’m gonna tell you som-ing – welcome to the real adult life.

1. Everybody, including your nearest Mai Shai has a job and you don’t

Yup. Mai shai – employed. Suya seller – employed. Groundnut hawker – employed.

2. Unemployed people should be seen, not heard aka Mom’s been stocking insults as ammo

Who knew your mom had all that ammo of insults stored? Chioma is working in the bank and you are here wasting your father’s money!

3. Everything is expensive!

Sharwarma is so expensive. MTN data plan is so expensive. Who knew Brazilian hair was so expensive? When did the price of roll-on increase? Do this Always ultra people think money grows on trees?

4. You miss NYSC Alert

Like that generous ex. NYSC was probably the easiest way you’ll ever make money, especially if you did runs.

5. So many job seekers, so many crazy marketing jobs.

Job Requirement: Ability to sign up 1000 customers. British or American accent, Must be willing to work without pay till target is met.

6. Nobody has your time, especially your bestie who is now working 8-5

7. Your parents and teachers were right. Adult life is hard.

All that talk and caning about doing the right thing, good mix of work and play, etc don’t sound like boring talk anymore, do they?

8. This is your life, your story, make something positive happen.

Why wait for that job opening when you could be trying out ideas you’ve had since your university days or just came up with. As it turns out, there are lots of business competitions going on, Investors are willing to give you that startup capital your parents may never be able to help you with. People, especially tech geeks are willing to partner with you to bring that dream to life. What are you waiting for? Go build your dream, Go compete, Go pitch, Go make things happen.

9. You can succeed. If you keep trying, you probably will.

Realizing that you can succeed if you keep going will take some time. You’ll be scared. You’ll be angry. You’ll probably fail many times. Get back up and keep going. Its not over till you say so.
