President Muhammadu Buhari
says Boko Haram insurgents
have been isolated, saying this
is already giving a chance for
peace to reign. President Buhari said this was
made possible by the
concerted efforts of member-
states of the Lake Chad Basin
Commission and Benin
Republic. He spoke at the Presidential
Villa in Abuja on Thursday at a
joint press briefing with the
president of Togo, Faure
Gnassingbe Eyadema, who
visited Nigeria for condolences over terrorist attacks and to
formally invite him to a
regional summit on maritime
security and development
holding in November in Togo. "Since the cooperation of the
regional countries comprising
Cameroun, Chad, Niger and
Benin Republic, we have
identified our problem and
achieved positive results in terms of isolation of Boko
Haram and giving a chance to
peace," Buhari said. Stressing the need for
collaboration among African
nations to address their
challenges, President Buhari
emphasised that without
securing the region, there would be no sustainable
development. "Bilaterally, we're trying to
see how we can come closer
together as he (Eyadema) has
explained because having
being there longer than
myself, he's more exposed, both in regional and on
African Union level. But first
and foremost, we must
identify our problem and the
first thing is security. We
must secure our region, otherwise sustainable
development will be
impossible. "You've just heard him say
how much is lost to piracy
and Nigeria cannot afford to
lose that. So, there is need for
cooperation amongst the
African countries. We'll continue to discuss and do our
best to resolve regional issues.
The most important thing is
that we must pay attention
to agriculture and
manufacturing so that everybody can be employed
and then we'll have much less
problems", he said. The president noted that it is
not easy fighting on so many
fronts with the security
challenges in the north-east
and the south-south, coupled
with the challenge providing infrastructure in the country.http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/buhari-boko-haram-now-isolated/110275.html

That's not news after all whenever the owner of a dog gives a signal the dog will always listen no matter how rabid that dog is.
