Well I don't have practical experience,but my piece of advice is as follows;

Draw up a list of routine tasks in/around the site ,study its associated hazards and if you cant mitigate them,at least make sure folks are aware of such hazards .

Ensure workers use appropriate ppe,e.g those working at heights harness,hard hats etc and enforce its use.

Make a safety guideline ,circulate it amongst workers.

Organize routine tool box meetings,for continous improvements ,where workers share their safety concerns.

Have a safety register,for hazard tracking,near miss and accident investigation.

finally,google is always there.Learn from industry standards,especially as related to the construction industry.

Hope this helps,cheers.
