A group of cash-strapped students have come up with a series of ingenious ways to solve their DIY dilemmas – and have shared the results online.

Solutions range from baking a pizza with an iron and a hairdryer to showering using a 7Up bottle as a shower head and have been shared on boredpanda.com.

More inventive ideas include using a shopping trolley in place of a barbecue grill, flipping a stool upside down to create a makeshift dustbin and stuffing an entire chair into the seat of an armchair to replace a cushion.

The novel pizza oven, which combines an iron and hair dryer, was submitted to the site by Wyofil, who added the caption: ‘Sorry we do not have a microwave available to guests’.
