Five persons were killed in a bomb blast in Madagali, a town in Adamawa State, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Haruna Furo, told journalists on Friday.

He said several other persons were injured in the attack.

Furo said the bomb was detonated by a female suicide bomber, who died in the attack alongside four others. Many others were also injured in the attack.

According to him, the incident occurred at a market in the town at almost the same time the Malkohi attack occurred.

He said the attacks on Yola and Madagali must have been masterminded by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Also confirming the attack on Madagali is Adamawa State Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Sajoh, who said he was still in the dark on the number of casualties.

He said it was learnt that the bomb blast occurred on Friday morning and that the state government was working with some humanitarian agencies to get the details.

Sajoh, however, called on members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement around their localities to security agencies.
